MemberOctober 30, 2011 at 11:30 am in reply to: Which size poles should I get for a new studio?I must also add…the studio I attend most often where we know each other, if someone is on the 45mm, they'll ask me if I would like to use it. That is sooo gracious. I usually respond that it's okay. For me it's good to practice on a 50mm also because 45's are not always available when going to different studios for classes/workshops, etc. But I love my Twirly Girls co-polers/friends 🙂

MemberOctober 29, 2011 at 10:53 pm in reply to: Which size poles should I get for a new studio?I've also attended a couple of studio that have both, at least two 45mm. Even though it's not always available, at least it's an option sometimes and for certain tricks for practice. After practicing on a 45mm for quite a few months at home I wondered about working on a 50mm again, did it today and it was not a problem at all. Yay! 🙂

Veena's online lessons are the best. I had been inverting when my local studio closed and thought I was doing well. However, when I found sv discovered I had to backtrack and learn inversions correctly. I highly recommend the year membership, the cost is sooo reasonable. Follow in order as much as possible, don't rush ahead and be patient with yourself. Don't compare to what others are doing and time frame, everyone is different.
My membership ran out and I can't wait till I can sign up again, especially for the flexibility and other training videos she has now.
Everyone started at different levels of fitness. I started at 52 yrs old and had been very active in power flex and aerobics at local gym. I thought I was totally in shape for pole, but found that it was almost like starting over with fitness. It is so different than anything I've done physically and had to work my way up with strength, stamina, etc.
What kind of pole do you have? Welcome to sv which is full of encouragement and support 🙂

This sounds like an excellent opportunity to actually meet veneers finally! 🙂 This pole convention is very close to me and don't know if it will be so close again.

I'd like to know if something happens. Depends on schedule, time difference etc. It's been a long time since I've used MSN, guess I could check it out again. I have Skype account.

MemberOctober 18, 2011 at 5:32 pm in reply to: Pole Convention 2012 – I know its early! Thanks for that Jag, I was trying to figure out what word to use to describe my pronunciation, haha I also pronounce it like that! When I heard David Owen say it, I didn't know what he meant so he had to explain to me. I didn't tell him how I pronounce it. I wonder how many others use different accent on it?? Does this fall under this thread? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I'll have to swing a day or two off work, but that's the plan!!! BTW, how is "veneers" pronounced?? I say it 'veneers' and someone else said "veneers" LOL There's no difference in print!!! I'll have to get someone on webcam during Friday chat.

Sure would be awesome to meet as many veneers as possible! it's about a 5-6 hour drive for me, but at least it's in California and not on the east coast 🙂

Remember I was sick not too long ago and couldn't pole for three weeks, then still took another week because of lack of energy. I thought I'l lose a lot and have to start over LOL However, much to my surprise picked up where I left off. You will too, get some rest and let your body heal. Can't wait to see you back at it 🙂

MemberSeptember 21, 2011 at 9:54 pm in reply to: Losing tricks when too tired @ the end of practiseYup, same here! I love it when I can accomplish a couple of shoulder mounts, etc. during a practice. Then I spend time working on different things. As I'm getting ready to cool down, I decide to throw in another shoulder mount and sometimes cannot get up. Instead of forcing it or other things, I realize it's time to stop before I hurt myself (which I did few years ago)
I think most of us have been there…done that. You're not alone
