@Dani, glad that you not using momentum and back of your ankle to complete invert. Others can give more appropriate tips, however, when I was learning this, I had trouble getting hips up so legs could more parallel to the floor.  A couple of gals mentioned it was because I was stopping short of tilting my body all the way back, like looking at wall behind me.  I realized I was not tipping totally back and was still looking up at the ceiling instead of behind me.  I've been working on that and it's getting better.  Again, make sure you are not kicking and using momentum to get up 🙂

@xtinax, I was also taught kick up into invert and ended up pulling a muscle in my ribs so bad I couldn't do anything for two months.  It was painful I thought I fractured a rib.  Then I found this site and learned SO much.  I did stop what I was doing and went back to the basics.  The lessons here were a great help in correcting it.  Don't take a chance on hurting yourself. 🙂

From my experience it's difficult to know what will work for each person, as weather, sweaty hands, etc. are different.  I also learned on a stainless steel lil mynx and it worked okay for two years.  I did struggle with it being slippery but was able to progress.  Once I began interm tricks, etc I had to change poles.  I got an xpole xpert 50mm titanium gold.  It has great grip; however, I struggled with spins because it is so grippy and my body got "tore up" since I still have tendency to have death grip, etc.  Right now I am practicing on an xpole 45mm chrome and "love it!"  It is not mine; however, and once it goes to its new home, I'll order my 45mm, still not sure if I'll get chrome or titan gold.

I also go to a studio that has stainless steel platinum stage poles, both 45mm & 50mm.  I also like those poles and don't have problem with being slippery, probably because they are "broken in."

As you can see, there are many options.  Drives me nuts since I'm a horrible decision-maker 🙂

BTW, the main reason I replaced my Lil Mynx is the extension rod for higher ceiling is on the top and not usable at all for anything.  When I started aerial invert, caterpillar climb, etc., was frustrated because I couldn't do anything all the way to the top.   Lil Mynx powder coated has more grip, but again, if extension rod is needed, it is not usable.

Good luck and let us know what you get 🙂

I had a stainless steel Lil Mynx for 2 years, although I did struggle with it being slippery, it served me well during that time.  However, when I got into things that required more grip (aside from sweaty hands) I had to replace it.

Another thing I didn't like about lil mynx (unless they've done something about it since), due to my ceiling height, we had to use the extension that is at the top of the pole.  That extension part of the pole is NOT usable for poling, so I had to adjust when learning aerial invert and caterpillar climb, and could not pole climb higher.  They need to have a cover for that section like xpole does.

I've had a 50mm titan gold for almost a year and love it.  I haven't had any problems with fading or joints.  Husband and I check it regularly.  I'm hoping to get a 45mm titan gold as soon as I can.  I'm temporarily practicing on a 45mm chrome and it's working out well, but I think I still want another tita gold, hmmm

I understand the decision making for this purchase, I went through the same thing, believe me!  It was hard.
