And Ottersocks – I heard Poletential was quite the host! Can’t wait to see more pics! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
It was a wonderful event, poletential did an awesome job! My hubby and I had a great time. We were thrilled to meet wonderful polers and see extraordinary performances. The hotel USPDF pkg was great, we stayed at a beautiful hotel for almost nothing! Thanks for a great get-away weekend! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

MemberOctober 28, 2010 at 3:54 am in reply to: Could a heavier person comfortably use Lil mynx?I replaced my lil mynx couple of months ago with an xpert TG. I got two years out of my lil mynx. I can’t give comments about weight, etc. but I did have mine on carpet and no issues at all. Like I said, had it for two years, only took down couple of times for home repairs and company sleep-overs, other than that it was always up. There is a little hole in the ceiling where the mount was. It’s barely noticeable. On popcorn ceiling it probably won’t be noticeable at all. I also can’t comment on the coated pole, I had a stainless steel and struggled with being very slippery. There are others who love the ss. It was useful in having to deal with slippery grip to improve strength for tricks/holds at my beginner level.
I need to get around to selling mine, just haven’t posted on craigslist or sv. I was thinking of taking it to USPDF west coast to sell (cheap), but then I’m afraid it won’t sell and I’ll have to bring it home again (it’s a 3 hr drive). That being said, anyone want to buy a lil mynx stainless steel. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I actually got an umbrella bench pad that came in two halves and had a hole in it for the pole, I mean umbrella. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif It works perfect. I can post a pic if you want.

I’m still hinting for a crash mat for Xmas https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif We are going to USPDF west coast and wondering if there will be crash mats for sale https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I saw this topic and couldn’t wait to read it! I don’t want to steal your thunder, I totally understand support of your hubby, I have very similar stories. Isn’t it wonderful!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif
edit: He is taking me and going to the west coast USPDF in November. He’s just as excited to see performances.

Love the pics, especially Advanced Plank, very pretty! I did this ONCE clumsily and just can’t get it again. Hope to get it soon, maybe with some help at a workshop https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif What are some tips as to how you got it? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

Also, veena for acknowledging the same. I am beginner/intermediate poler, started late in age and enjoy poling so much. This is the place I gravitate to for support, encouragement fun, friends, etc.
Thank you! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

hooked– what do you mean by "the whole pole"? how tall? because i practice on 12′ and there is no way i can get the whole pole in the shot unless i shoot from very very far away. let me know how tall your pole is and i’ll test the range of the camera this weekend. and yes, it takes a standard tripod mount.
amy, my ceiling ht is 8’10" -8’12" after tension pushes down into carpet. Does this info help? I’d like to be able to have view of bottom of pole to top. I either record chopping bottom of pole or top of my head.
-
amy, do you have to be far away with the vado record the whole pole? Where my pole is located in comparison to where I can place camera, I can’t get too far away. Also, can it be placed on standard tripod?
chemgoddes, a friend told me about the kodak sport and want to try theirs soon. Do you know if it records entire pole also without being too far away?
Thanks, gals!

pennygirl, I’ve tried SO many grip aids for my sweaty hands and lil mynx stainless steel. None of which I bought again. I finally got an xpert TG few weeks ago and am having better practices. Even though my hands tend to sweat I am able to get more done. I just ordered some grip spray made by a gal at aerial empowerment. She has a post about it here somewhere. Although, due to it being mixed with alcohol, she could not ship it pre-mixed. She sent me powder mixture with how to mix. I am so anxious to try it, although now that I have the TG don’t know if I’ll have need for it. I wish I could have tried it on ss pole before taking it down. Also, don’t know if can be on pole for spins.
I’ve tried grip aid on the pole, my hands, between legs; tried shaving gel, etc. I didn’t have any luck. I had decent practices on the ss when weather/pole cooperated which was few and far between!
So the competitors used grip aids during competing, hmmm Did they put on pole, hands, where? Did you find out what was used? I often wondered what performers do with slippery pole/hands.
I also probably didn’t give you any answers https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I’m planning on going also. I have friends I can stay with in the area. However, I’m not crazy about showing up by myself. I know I’ll meet other polers and veneers, there, however, would be kinda bumbed to sit during competion if I don’t know anyone "yet." Although, won’t have a choice if I buy ticket, because I was informed it’s reserved seating and not general.

Mommabear, I’ve read more of your situation and feel badly about the two cents I threw in earlier. I had no idea it was this bad and that there is a history or pattern of many of other issues. I guess because my husband and I went through gunk years ago and came through it, being married for 32 yrs, I express hope for others. But not every relationship has a happy ending, as much as we’d like it to.
I apologize if anything I said was hurtful and/or made you feel worse. That was not my intent at all, especially since you had the strength to open up and share. Again, I’m so sorry to hear how bad things are, hang in there.

I’m planning on being there!!So keep in touch and we’ll all be on the lookout for Veeners!!LOL https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_profileright.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_profileleft.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
Sounds good to me! I guess I should buy ticket even if I don’t have anyone specific to schedule with.
