Hooked….this is why I don’t recommend the TG for beginners or those who like to do static spins. Its hard on the hands. However you will get use to it, but wow I have some major callouses happening from my TG. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif If your a death gripper the TG will take some time to get use to. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_colors.gif
It’s not only very grippy and painful for spins. No matter what I do is very difficult, hurts, and not fun at all. Just a couple of practices and I’m actually banged, bruised, scraped, etc. I look like I got beat up! I dont know, I might regret getting the TG https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Even though I’m not advanced, I miss being able to play with spins, but I wasn’t able to much with the ss either.

So how is the chrome working for you. I started on lil myx stainless steel over 2 years ago and just got an xpert titanium gold. I think I went from one extreme to the other. I’m wondering how yours is working for you? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

How would you compare chrome vs stainless steel? I just got an xpert 50 mm TG and it is very grippy, infact maybe too grippy for me, not sure yet.

I’m wondering how the lotion is for spins practice. I just put up my new xpert titanium gold and have used it couple of times. OMG, I’m all beat up, it hurts!!! I went from complaining about my stainless steel being too slippery to TG being TOO grippy. I’m not that good at poling and wonder if I’m not ready for TG. I’m going to keep trying it for a bit longer and see, then put my ss back up and play with it again. I think maybe I should have gotten the xpert chrome. hmm, maybe will post a 3 week old TG pole for sale https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif By the way, what kind of pole do you use.

There is someone here who mentioned she takes hers down quite a bit, I think it’s Empyrean here on sv. She might be able to help you with this.

MemberSeptember 19, 2010 at 4:35 pm in reply to: Assembling and disassembling your x-polehmm…for myself I really needed my husband and don’t know if it’s something I could do on my own. I just asked him what he thought and he also found it difficult to respond about doing it alone. His comment was everyone is different and there are some who probably can, while others can’t; it’s better with two but possible alone. We thought maybe having someone the first time or two to get a feel for what’s like. Assembling it is not a problem for one person, it’s the standing it up, lining up with joist, I kinda supported it especially at the base while he rotated to adjust height. He was able to stand it up without me but don’t know how it would be for me alone. I’m on the small/thin side and am spoiled by him doing things for me.
Congrats on your new pole, did you get chrome or TG? We just got my new xpert TG yesterday, tested for few minutes, but can’t wait to actually practice later today. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif
Oh, once you know where joist is and where base will be, aligning will more than likely be easier each time. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CUTIE!!!!

Make sure that both ends of your X-joints are fully tightened, alternate as you tighten them (Tighten 1 until it stops, tighten the other, go back to the first one, etc)
I received my xpert TG Monday 9/13, however, due to my husband’s & my work schedule, we can’t put it up till this Saturday https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif I’m nervous due to all I’ve regarding some issues with assembly, etc. When alternating tightening the x-joints, how do we know we should stop? I’m afraid we’ll be concerned about over-tightening and/or ruining it.

Hi, new to forum but thought I would share. I have tried Power tac, which I purchased in a sporting goods store. It’s used on aluminum baseball bats for better grip. Sprayed it on my SS lil’ mynx and it made a big difference. Make the pole a bit tacky and doesn’t rub off on you. When you want to get rid of the tackyness, just wipe with warm water. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
Meera, does it come as a spray? I’m guessing it’s too tacky to use on pole for spins?

I did the same thing when started veena’s lessons. Needed to clean up and do some things properly. Also, even though I knew how to do something decently, learning actual points of contact was a huge help to improve.

MemberSeptember 14, 2010 at 3:41 am in reply to: Is this going to get prettier, or am I stuck with ugly?Even though I understand, your description was cute! I am 54, going on 55 next month and I don’t think I’ll put mirrors in my pole space. I struggle with recording practices to see what my poling looks like cuz my face also is recorded https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif I also have to have my camera fairly close because of the angle of the doorway, wish I could place it farther back. This just reminds me that I need to work on breathing and somewhat relaxing when practicing. The responses here say it gets better…I’m holding them to that! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Just make sure you have enough room all the way around the pole to do whatever. I have a small section of room to open up with spin practice or handstand dismount practice cuz of furniture in the way on other side. My hubby helped me move things around to open up more space and we are still going to move stuff out to have room all the way around. Fortunately, my pole is in our hobby room so don’t need actual furniture in there.
