What a creative idea. I’m also on the non-flexible side. Sometimes I just settle that I won’t be able to get near where I should be on stuff. On veena’s online lesson for side climb, it requires flexibility to get that leg up high on the pole to start and I’m no where able to do that https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif It would be fun and encouraging to meet with others regarding this and for motivation. I also don’t know how to start, measure, etc.

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I was able to start veena’s online lessons and so glad I did! I’m still waiting to hear status of my job but my husband told me to get them. He pointed out I’ve been spending money for workshops/classes which are 1-3 hours away, so what’s the difference of paying for online lessons to work at my own pace, etc. My hubby is a gem!!
I love the way the lessons are set up to watch, listen to explanation, watch veena, then practice it. If I forget something, I just watch again till my brain grasps it. I like the strength exercises that lead up to spins, tricks, etc. They will also help me to imrove or clean up what I’ve learned on my own. These lessons will give me a map to progress without me having to decide what to try next and possibly make a wrong decision. There are some things I may not be able to get and that’s okay (I think of shoulder mount), there is plenty to learn and have fun with. I just love the exercise and fitness that comes from poling. THANKS VEENA!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Good job, sometimes it’s just that one little (or scarey) thing to get that makes the difference. It’s neat when we get that "ah-ha" moment https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Have fun with it now!

I was active before with various activites, was into the gym thing for step aerobics and power-flex (weight class) When I discovered pole, I love it for the fitness and strengthening it involves. Although more difficult than anything I’ve ever done, it’s so fun and rewarding. I’ve had fun meeting everyone of all ages, but do a happy dance when I meet others in my age group, haha

Veena, what do you mean 3 old lessons to replace? I’m hoping to begin your online lessons in a month or so, will there be a change in what’s available? Thanks!

…you no longer wear your wedding rings to not scratch your pole, since just walking by the pole could become a practice session.
…asking for crash mats for birthday gift.
…a 3 hr drive to visit your son includes a private lesson in the same area https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
…spending time with hubby includes driving to a lesson together, him sitting in the car while you have a lesson, then spend the rest of the day together.Aye, am I addicited or what?!? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
Had to add another: You may be a pole dancer when you sheepishly https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif tell your 25 yr old son who shakes his head, BUT for Christmas gives you an Intermediate Moves to Learn DVD. (This was too fun!)

I also wondered if I was doing something wrong since I wasn’t receiving notifications, etc. Your discovering it was going to spam folder spurred me to check mine, and there they were! Didn’t even think of checking spam folder. Learn something new every day, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Thanks!

Thanks veena and megs. I’m hoping to be able to begin online lessons in a month or so. A lot coming up in June expense wise. Wish I could try sooner, but need to wait a bit. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I also have the toughest time going into superman from side V. I must not have the arm strength needed to support what I need to do with the thighs/legs. I can do the superman by first going into scorpio, then to hip hold and flipping up. Still not as smooth as I would like. I still want to get it from the gemini, opening legs and twisting. I’ve gotten passed the pain of twisting so think I’m opening leg enough, just not being able to lock and my legs fall down. It looks nice and I need more variety anyway so going to keep on trying.

MemberMay 27, 2010 at 4:55 am in reply to: Help!… How do I get over stage fright at HOME!?Thank you, thank you for this. I’m struggling with this as well. Even though I started pole mainly for fitness and strength workout, I’d like to be able to "play" with it and have fun. I video myself trying dance moves/transitions, but I look so goofy. I’ve tried different styles of music, no luck. I wanted to go out on a limb and post a May Challenge of spins, but not sure. I’ve practiced a little routine about four times and since I’m not good at the dance part of pole I look so stiff, and unnatural. , https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif Seems as if most here are either a natural, been at a long time, plain sexy, etc.
So what to do? We’ll just have to jump over this hurdle together https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif
p.s. For the fitness part of pole, my husband is very much involved. He drives me to workshops, classes, watches videos online with me to give me pointers when I’m practicing, even spots me! He’s a gem. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

Another question about veena’s online lessons. My pole and pc are not in the same room and I don’t have a laptop. The rooms are right next to each other. Are the online lessons to where I should be watching in the same room as my pole. I’m especially wonderng about the strength training exercises.
Thanks!

The funny thing is I’m probably older than most here and my son is 25! He has lived away from home for seven years now. My husband encouraged me to tell him what my "new workout" is. When I did he responded,"Mom I will never be able to look at you the same!" When he has visited I’ve asked him if he would like to see anything I do, which quick response was NO! haha I showed him a basic spin or two, but that’s as far as he’ll see his mom do. He knows I do it for fitness, however, he IS 25. The clincher is for Christmas this past December, he gave me an Intermediate Pole DVD which was a perfect gift!!! It was so funny. We have a good laugh about it.

MemberMay 24, 2010 at 3:53 pm in reply to: Help, I want to get the tuck and basic invert!I am working on proper invert also. I think I have strength after working on ab exercises, etc, but seem to be weak when actually putting technique into invert. I’m going to work hard on fluer’s monkey hang exercise in her post about being ready for inversions. I know I don’t have the strength because ariel inverts are SO difficult. Like they say, taking it slow to get it done without injury is important and I have to keep reminding myself that. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
