Oh God. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I actually just had a horrendous song pop into my head. I think I might do it. I know I will not be able to dance to it at all but it’ll probably be funny. I’ll probably give it a whirl once I get my Mighty Grip gloves so that I can actually hold onto the pole.

Glad you weren’t hurt! I’m paranoid and always do a few tug tests plus usually a flag or two before I start dancing, and I hope I stay in that habit. I can deal with falling off of the pole by myself, but I’d rather not have it follow me.

I say just go for it. It can be pretty nerve wracking at first–I’ve been with my boyfriend for over three years, so I’m very comfortable with him obviously, but I was pretty nervous about pole dancing for him. However, once I stretched out, took some deep breaths, got into my outfit and started the music, I just sort of let go and had a lot of fun with it, and we both enjoyed ourselves. If it doesn’t go perfectly, just laugh it off and whip off your top. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif That oughta’ disctract him.

Looking good! Just keep at it. Everyone has to start somewhere. Just don’t forget to point your toes.

OMG!! I was afraid I’d never get to see that. I loved it; she is so ridiculously sexy when she dances. Her bendiness is mind-boggling. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif And to think she did all that right after dislocating her knee.

Thanks for putting the link up, evelina!

There actually seem to be quite a few husbands/boyfriends who aren’t interested in seeing their SO pole, which surprises me. I would have thought most of them would have been like ‘Ooh yay, my wife’s my own private stripper now!’ (Even though that’s not what it’s about, but that tends to be how men think.)

My boyfriend doesn’t like strip clubs (he’s been once and didn’t care for it,) but he likes to watch me dance. Although, I do the whole show: striptease while I dance, followed by a lapdance. He probably wouldn’t be that interested in just watching me pole, although he did say the moves were entertaining to watch.

    LOL! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif You’re right!!
I hadn’t even noticed. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif Maybe that explains her level of awesomeness https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif So having no belly button gives you special powers?

I hadn’t heard of her until the ‘This Is It’ thread, but she is awesome! I love how she moves so well to the music, and the 1:12 move–someone should do a tutorial on that. I’ve never seen it until now.

Also, she’s got really good muscle tone. I don’t know why, but it always impresses me when I see women like that. Maybe because I strength train a lot and appreciate how hard you have to work to get that fit.

I love her dancing! I’ve never seen her before. She has such smooth transistions and she’s so flexible–and I LOVE how she really synchs her moves to match the music.

Being strong enough to do a handstand is a big part of learning to invert, IMO, because it goes back to having an exit strategy, just in case your leg grip gives out, or you’re slippery, or whatever. Tuck and roll is one exit strategy (great if you have a mat, tougher if you’re on bare floor!). When you don’t have a mat, being able to simply put your hands down and support yourself with your arms until you sort your legs back out is always important.

Good for you for slowing down! Safe poling for everyone!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif (I have been ITCHING to use that smiley)

Everyone else has already given really good advice, so I don’t feel the need to add anything, but I think polergirl made a very good point. Lots of strength training is a must in pole dancing, for one because many of the moves require a strength, but it’s also a good safety feature.

Case in point: it’s been very, very cold where I live this winter. One night I was practicing on my pole, and it was so cold I was having trouble getting my legs to stick, which is usually never a problem with me. I was sliding a bit, but nothing too dangerous. Then I hopped off for just a couple of minutes to do something else, got back on for just a last little bit of practice, went into an inverted crucifix, and all of a sudden after hanging in place for a second, I just plunged straight down because the pole had cooled off so much just in the little bit of time I’d been gone. Luckily I can hold myself in a handstand, or else I’d have topped the night off with a nice old face plant.

Everyone slips sometimes, and having the strength to hold up your bodyweight can really save your butt sometimes.

Here’s another good site for lingerie, and they have some pretty good deals on a lot of their stuff:

    http://www.yandy.com

I spent probably a good half hour, forty minutes looking through it last night and I already have several things I want picked out.

  • What a dick. He probably saw your arms and felt like his manhood was being challenged because you looked like you could take him in a fight.

I think a lot of guys just like to push obvious female insecurity buttons, and being called ‘fat’ is a big flashing red insecurity button for a lot of women. For instance, one of my sister’s friends used to call me fat, and I am nowhere near overweight, and never have been, unless you are going by anorexic standards. (I’m 5′ 5" and 120 lbs. and have been since I hit my final growth spurt in middle school.) He was just trying to get a rise out of me, and I think a lot of guys do this. They like to pick away at women’s self esteem, because it’s the only way losers like them can ever get any–make the woman think she’s fat and ugly and that she couldn’t ever do better than you, and she’ll have to settle for you.

Thanks for the link, amcut! Those look great. I’m going to look around and see if I can possibly find a U.S. distributer online since international shipping is a pain–although I do like Journey’s idea of maybe getting a bunch of us sweaty SV members together and seeing if we can do some big order and get a discount. It might be worth asking about, at least.

In the meantime, I think I’ll pick up a pair of the MG gloves.

  • i wonder what mooby dick would think if he knew all these womens across the country think he’s an ass !

Probably say we’re all just a bunch of fat, ugly, wanna-be strippers anyway, because that’s how flailing morons like him think.
