If you have a new pole it can be part of the problem because they tend to be slippery. No matter how hard you grip you’ll slide off. I’ve had my pole for 6 months and still have this problem. I started using pole grip which helps tremendously.

This reminds me of what pole star Michelle Shimmy posted on her instagram after someone made a rude comment about her sister who is also a pole dancer.
GIRLS COMPETE WITH EACH OTHER. WOMEN EMPOWER ONE ANOTHER.
Don’t let the girls in the beginners class get to you and stop you from taking classes. Try the intermediate class or another studio to find people who are supportive and don’t feel the need to compete with others.

I’m in!! I already started last month and I’m keeping track of my progress with a blog I just started. The blog is to keep track of my progress with pole in general with photos and dates – http://irenepolefit.blogspot.com Right now I’m using 1 block when I do the front splits and I think I can go up to 3 blocks by the end of 2015. On a good day I’m about 3-4 inches off the ground with the middle splits and my goal is to be able to use 1 block. I started taking flexibility classes on skype in October and I can tell I’m progressing so I hope my goals are realistic.
