Thank you everyone for your feedback! I actually have been looking at all three of the studio’s you guys mentioned (Pole La Teaz, VJ’s, and Spineralla) and I think I’m going to try all three out…I’m so indecisive it’s crazy! Lol. I’m sure all three studio’s are great, but just like a few girls mentioned everyone is looking for something different. I guess you could say I’m looking for acrobatics and to get into better shape, but I also want to stay in touch with my sensual side. I guess you could say a mixture of both…
I’m assuming these studio’s you guys mentioned have introductory classes I can attend? Most of the sudio’s up here in CT do…
And yes WishForSunshine, it IS a lot warmer! I won’t be moved there for good until January 11th but I’m getting weather updates from my aunt who lives down there everyday. How exciting to get away from the FREEZING COLD up here…I hate it. ):<

WOW! To be honest that’s what I noticed about a lot of the websites I went to for other studios. A lot of booty shaking and twerking, less fluid pole moves. Not that I have anything against booty shaking and twerking! (;
I actually watched one video of an instructor/studio owner kicking up into an invert! :O Needless to say I doubt I’ll be attending that studio…

Thanks! That really does help! I’ll look into it as soon as I get there! Have you been to any other studios around the area?

Well I’m still a beginner. Level one. I haven’t attended many pole classes where I’m at now, just because of money issues that I was having. But I just wanted to know how they were with beginners. Do they move at an okay pace? My first studio I went to tried to move way too fast for me…

PoLaTeaz is the one I was looking at today that looked promising…Well, I looked at a lot today that looked promising. I’m pretty sure that’s why I’m having such a hard time choosing! Lol.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I really like the hula hooping idea! Playing with a hula hoop was one of my fave things to do as a kid and I was really good at it, maybe it transferred over to my adult years! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
I wasactually looking into a studio in my town, they don't have poles or anything but they offer yoga, zumba, pilates, etc.
You guys have convinced me to get Veena's lessons even more, even though I don't have my pole yet…I really wanna start working on my flexibility. It's basically non existant. Lol.

Thanks pankake! I think it had more to do with more girls in the class with me…made me feel a little less awkward, since I dont have a pole buddy to go with me. Lol. But I still might invest in the SV lessons. Has a big part of your learning come from there?

Don’t mean to hijack the thread or change the subject ladies, just saying my class went great last night! I definitely prefer this one, at least thats what the intro class showed me. It was more organized, we started off with a 10 minute warmup and stretching exersize, then the instructor taught us 5 moves, a pretty dismount, and some strengthening techniques. I definitely got better vibes off this studio than the first one. In the end she told me I was free to move on the beginner one since I caught on so quick! Im super excited! 😀

So I listened to you ladies and went ahead and booked a class tonight. Unfortunately there arent that many studios around me, most of them are at least an hour to an hour and a half away, almost bordering into NY. ): But I did find one close enough, and I’ve been chatting with a woman there on and off for the past week…I’m just going to go in and compare to see my vibes from each one. Plus its half off an intro class tonight so BOO-YA! 😀 I’ll keep you ladies posted on what happens.

BTW, we were talking and it turns out the instructor I guess started out as a stripper so pretty much everything she knows was self-taught. Not sure if that means anything. Do you have to have certain qualifications in terms of teaching to open up a studio?

Thanks guys! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
Yeah, I guess you could say I felt like a little something was missing I guess. I'm going to a class tomorrow night at a different studio so that maybe I'd have something to compare it to. In general the class was bad. The instructor was really nice and she was good about going my own pace. She told me always practice equally on the right and left side, and told me about grip aids and such. Maybe she just did feel a little odd only teaching one student. I went on a Wednesday Portable…
And yeah, the spin and walk was pretty much it JB. She told me I was supposed to touch my toes together and try to hold my body up in the end, but I couldnt get my legs to stretch enough or my arms to hold my body up enough. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif But thanks!

Well she pretty much taught me how to properly grip the pole…how to do a pole walk, then wrap my knee around the pole and swing while holding myself up. I'm not sure what the move is called, sorry. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif But maybe you're right. She did start off really slow and went at my pace…I'll upload a video of what she actually taught me and then maybe I can show you better than I can tell you.

When I used to pole dance a while back I started out with acrylic nails on and it was dang hard! I used to hit my nails on the pole all the time, and I’m sure you can relate to the pain. But I’m pretty sure you can learn through it and learn how to function with them on. I’ve seen girls do it.
Even though nail polish tends to get chipped on the pole anyways. That’s why I thought it was smarter for me to save myself some money on getting them done and just take them off…

It is actually possible she was just trying to get me to buy the studios poles. She sells the poles that the studio uses…so I was actually thinking that. I’m liking the SV pole the more I think about it…I tend to have sweaty hands though, would that hinder me on a powder coated pole?
Curse my clammy, yet still sweaty hands. /:

Hm, that's good then! I really like LM's poles because they're so affordable…so I think that's what I'll go with…
