I own a studio and do have customers sign a liability waiver. Most are what’s referred to as “boilerplate, i.e. standard industry verbiage. As stated, for the studio owner they are very difficult, if not impossible, to uphold in a court of law. (Stupid!). Go ahead and sign, or go ahead and ask the studio in question to retract that clause before you sign. Odds are if it’s a reputable business it will all be moot anyway

  • Welcome back! I’ve been here since 2010 (i think….) I, too, don’t seem to have as much time to visit here as I used to. I miss it !

This looks like the closest studio, but it’s still around 50 miles away: http://www.bellavitapolefitness.com/

I don’t personally know anything about this one, but it’s what came up when i googled. Good luck!

Well…. when I opened almost 4 years ago I never really gave men much thought. I now have 2 (albeit gay) men enrolled, and they are just as loveable and wonderful as any of the ladies who take classes with us. I’d take 100 more of em if I could get em !!

Hey Brumby ! This is great news — I did it 6 years ago, with the incentive of my hubby promising a nice gift. Best thing I ever ever did !!! Do you have a way to really super reward yourself or have someone who would do it for you? Having that carrot on a stuck really helped me in weaker moments. I also upped my water intake, and had a little mantra for myself “no thanks, I don’t smoke” which I said to myself . Good luck you can totally do it because you really are ready now!

Okie dokie… I’m am an old school ( yes really old… Born in 1958) dancer. I grew up in a dance studio, taking classes in jazz tap and ballet….. There was “modern” but “contemporary” was a long ways off…

We counted EVERYTHING. We even played around with different time signatures: 3/4; 5/4; 6/8.,. And it was a freakin BLAST. !

With that said, pole’s a different thang in my opinion.,,, You get to to alternate between counting and feeling. Ain’t nuthin wrong widdat !

So… I guess my message regarding counting is : who cares? If you really need the counts, go take a ballet, ballroom or tap class 🙂

Very funny to see this post today, as for my facebook status yesterday, i admitted to being having a foot fetish / being a toe nazi.  i repeat it here :

"A'iite… I'll admit it. I have a foot fetish / I am a toe Nazi. I don't care how strong, flexible, fluid a person is, if they don't point they feet I can't keep watching :-/"

    please don't hate me ?

2 years ago i equipped my studio with permanent brass poledanzers.  robert was amazing, and his poles are extremely solid and well made.  since then, i have recently installed another pole from a different manufacturer, and though it's a nice pole, you can definitely tell the difference.  robert's spinny poles also spin like no others — the bearings are incredibly smooth (and light-speed fast!).

BigStrongGirl — what is the 'stripping' you refer to ?  is that anything like the Graston technique, where they rub an implement over the area to break down the scar tissue ?

not for nuthin – at my studio i flat out refuse to let TG be taught from the floor….  we are only just now beginning to work on it from up the pole :  i have heard and seen tooooooooooo many problems with shoulders from people swinging up into that TG from the floor !!!

    1 )  CONGRATS !!!!

    2)  F'k Howard Stern

    3)  Just think how cool it will be that you will reach a LOT of 'normal' or 'regular' women who've been too intimidated to try it because all they've ever heard or seen is either 'strippers' or pole champions.  This brings it to the real people out there !!!!!!!
