i outfitted my studio with chairs found at ikea, which were super reasonable (approx $10 each), and very lightweight, sturdy and easily transported. before i chose the chairs, i tested each one they had. having had numerous shapes and sizes on the chairs, they have held up really well.

Studio409 comments : "I totally agree with the webmaster; before blaming organizations, you have to know the personal history of involved people. Before publishing a public comment you have to be informed correctly.
Unfortunately, not everyone is willing to hear both sides of each situation. O Studio409, if only ALL would follow this advice of yours !! I believe it is blatantly unfair for people to take a public stand without having all the information. n'est ce pas ?
But, getting back to the original point of the post, which is to 'pink responsibly', it seems to me that the original intent of Descalzada is not an attack on any particular organization, simply a note that there are indeed some ogranizations out there who's mission may be out of line with the contributor's intention. That's all.

having studied dance for most of my life, i was always taught to keep ballet in the mix of classes i took. it's the foundation of pretty much all the other dance forms, so IMO, take it !! at the very least you'll do no harm to yourself or your poling skills 🙂

Even if you already 'know' a move, you can still go back and look at it broken down, you can search the threads and forums for all sorts of info. and yeah, the kindness just rolls offa this site ! xxoo

my studio regularly brings in recognized pole folks for workshops, and every time we do, we make a point of inviting the other studios to participate. do you know that NOT ONE of them, even though the invitation asks for an RSVP, has ever even replied with a 'no thanks'. *sigh*

This thread comes at a very interesting time for me, and I am happy to read that there is some cooperation 'out there'. There are only a few studios in my state, and we are all fairly spread out, except for one which is about 18 miles from mine. If I get a call from someone who is closer to the others, I feel it is less than professional if I don't at least mention that the other studio is closer to the caller. Let the customer decide where they think they will have the best experience. I'm pretty sure nobody else out here does this….. ah well. Maybe one day !

my suggestion to you , before you make a final decision on pulling out, would be to search the Polesque competition on You Tube for the 2011 winner, Roz Mays. She is a bigger girl. Take a look… 🙂 It really isn't about your size, it is about your passion.
