Mine are about 8 feet and let me tell you, I miss the 14 foot poles in my studio I went to before I moved. However, even with my limitations now I’m thankful for what I have and there’s still plenty to keep me challenged!

I have the pole aria system for lilmynx and I think it’s so much fun! I took classes for it for about a year and took a workshop with Cat Gennaro. I think they’re a great way to add something different to your practice or routine. I do use them to help get comfortable with moves like shoulder mounts and they’re great for stretching! I have a couple silks videos on my Instagram, jennypoles.

That’s definitely the best thing about 8tracks! I don’t know why it’s not more popular.

I might be the one who you’re tacking about. Thank for posting, I’m definitely going to have a listen! I really need to expand my library and so far this sounds great!

Oh, Bat for Lashes is such a great suggestion! I still haven’t gotten spotify, but maybe it’s time that I caved.

I’m just looking for practice songs. I’m not a Nickleback fan, but I’ll check out the other artist. Thanks for the response!

I’m actually similar in stature (5’2″ 125 pounds and some of the smallest hands I know) and I personally hate using a 40mm. My old studio had one and I would avoid using it at all costs. I actually felt like it was too small for me to get a good grip. That being said, I really hate using a 50mm too. I’m a pretty hardcore 45mm user.

I think the bit about cravings is really important. I gave up Bojangle’s (a fried chicken fast food restaurant for those of you who don’t live in the South) for Lent because I used to crave it all the time and since then I hardly ever want it! Just cutting it out for a few weeks was all it took for me to not want it any more.

Keep in mind, too that eating healthier is a very long, gradual process. As an example, a few years ago I switched from regular yogurt to Greek because it has more protein. Then I switched from varied flavors that do usually have a good amount of sugar as previously stated to buying plain and then I add honey and cinnamon myself to sweeten it and to be a bit healthier. Now if I could just cut down on sweets in general and eat more veggies I’d be great 🙂

I’ve been stretching pretty much my entire life off and on since I did cheerleading and color guard as a kid so a stretching routine comes pretty naturally to me. That said, I’m still not very flexible, that’s just the way my body is. Anyway, I would suggest going to a few yoga classes. A lot of the stretches I do are straight out of yoga or are very similar and the structure of the class can teach you how to put a flow of stretches together.

  • I don’t have much of a suggestion besides maybe getting a stage pole instead? What I’m really curious about is how you managed to get your pole to Germany?
