Simply trying to hit backspace on my tablet and ended up posting this ridiculous and incomplete discussion. Really disliking the inability to self-moderate and delete unintended postings or edit mistakes in wanted posts….but I digress..

My daugbter isn’t quite ready for schooling, but when she is, it will be done the homeschooling way. Since you’re just next to AZ, maybe you could plan to attend the annual homeschool conference that is held in Phoenix on July 11th and 12th. On July 10th, there’s a free mini conference that has an AMAZING introduction to learning style and curriculum that is as entertaining as it is informative. Even if you only come for the freebie, you won’t be disappointed. The conference gives you a chance to see all the curriculum in person and right next to other curriculum for easy comparison.

Oooohhh…VERY good questions that I would also like to know the answers to.
From my time as a gymnast more than 20yrs ago, we used to just practice, practice, practice until we got it. But my time as a gymnast was long before gymnasts incorporated weight training into the mix.

That’s exactly how I’m feeling about my pole practice and its incredibly frustrating. While I haven’t experienced this yet myself, I hear that if you just keep doing the things you CAN do while also continuing to build strength, the new more advanced moved will come.
Just keep getting back on the pole and this plateau will soon give way to tangible progress. You’ve GOT THIS! 🙂

MemberFebruary 19, 2014 at 1:50 pm in reply to: Looking for a used freestanding pole ASAP!Hi Jenn!
I ordered my pole on a Tuesday, it shipped Wednesday, and it was delivered on that same Friday. I’m in the suburbs of Phoenix and the pole ships from Fresno, CA.

Just to clarify, the SV pole is manufactured and shipped by Lil Minx.

How disappointing for you! I am so sorry. The garage will probably work really well for the next several months. I’m in AZ and was thinking of a garage installation too then bringing it inside from May thru October.
If I’m correct, Lil Mynx will take it back and cut it down for you but you pay shipping. Randy amd Lizzie at Lil Mynx are so wonderful and I know they will do whatever they can to help.

OH NOOOO!! I’m so disappointed for you. I hope fresh arms after a good night’s sleep will be all that you need to get your pole in place. Please keep me updated…mine should arrive tomorrow. (probably while I’m at work, so the hubs will get to receive the package)

Here’s a listing for a 2pk of 2oz DryHands on Amazon for just over $20 incl shipping. Its a larger one-time expense, but the per-ounce cost gets cut but 1/3 or more (depending how much you pay for a 1oz bottle now).
http://www.amazon.com/Nelson-Sports-Products-Dry-Hands/dp/B00CPCH9WS/ref=sr_1_3_m?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1392364309&sr=1-3&keywords=dry+handsI have heard that Prince Grip Plus, which is made for tennis players to help combat sweaty hands, is a nice alternative to Dry Hands. Its available here for $7/bottle or $6.25/bottle when buying two or more.
http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/Prince_Grip_Plus_Moisture_Absorption_Lotion/descpagePRINCE-PGPLUS.htmlHere’s just one poler review of Price Grip Plus, among other grip aids she has tried:
http://blog.nashvillepoleparty.com/2013/11/grip-aids-for-pole-dancing.htmlI have also heard that Master Non Slip Grip Cream, which is made for bowlers to help combat slippery hands, is another cross-utilized pole grip aid. This is available at many bowling alleys for about $3/jar. Here’s an eBay listing for $4.50 incl shipping. Supposedly a little bit of this goes a very long way.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/360169606122?lpid=82I’m super duper new to poling and I will be at a beginner level for a very long time. According to Veena’s guide for when its appropriate to begin learning spins, I am still years away from achieving that baseline standard. I have a terrible time with sweaty hands, but since I’m really not “allowed” to advance to more complicated moves, I’ve resisted the urge to purchase any grip aids. I have always wondered as well, once I can start the kind of pole work that is benefited by grip aid, if I’ll need to use it forever. I guess only time, or advice from experienced polers, will tell. 🙂
I’m not sure if any of this will be helpful to you, but I thought I’d share anyway. Happy Poling!!

Very informative post AerialGypsy…THANK YOU! Having never heard of a matte finish for a dance pole before, I am even more intrigued than I was before. I’m such a sweat factory that the prospect of a sticky surface makes me salivate. lol

@BigBaby1201…RIGHT?! This vid really is amazing and has me totally reevaluating my entire outlook on pole. Sooooo inspiring.

Hi brookebat!
When I measured my “9-foot” ceilings, I discovered that after the flooring was installed, they dropped to 8’11.5″. Lizzie from Lil Mynx had me order the 9′-10′ pole and they chopped an inch off so that I would have the absolute maximum space available. I suggest double checking the actual measurement at the location you will likely install the pole, and order the longer of the two poles. In the “notes to seller” box in PayPal, simply note your actual ceiling height and Lil Mynx will custom cut the length for you at no additional cost.

Does your drill have an “impact” setting? That will give it the extra “oomph” it needs to power through.
