Yay you! And your original problem is exactly what I’m struggling with currently so it’s great to hear that it’s not an insurmountable problem!!
Hi Sassafrassle, What really helped me was putting all energy and power into that inner leg forward kick to give me enough momentum to get that leg kicked back and straight up,then the outside leg finally followed. Once both legs are up, look up at your feet and contract your abdomen and legs. This help me so much with balancing. And concentrate on making sure your bottom hand is straight pushing you away and top hand slightly bent pulling you into the pole and really lowering your head. Landmark your body position by top arm elbow to hip/pelvic bone. Try hooking your inner leg first and practice balancing into the straight edge.
I had left Trena a comment on a vid she did with a beautiful cartwheel mount that I was so jealous of her cartwheel mount. She replied ”Don’t worry joni, You’ll get it”. So from one determined great poler to the next, Don’t worry Sassafrassle, You’ll get it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif I wouldn’t be a bit surprise if you post a vid of yourself doing the CM soon. I just posted my CM and ayasha vid last night. -
Hi everyone. So ,I finally got the cartwheel mount which was my ultimate pole goal. 2 1/2 YEARS AGO WHEN i first saw this move , my jaw dropped. I NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS BACK THEN THOUGHT THAT I WOULD BE DOING THIS ONE DAY. So 3 weeks ago I started practicing this split grip baseball hold, kicking my inner leg forward then back. I was so frustrated https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif as my outside leg kept dragging my legs back down ,but I kept at it. The 2nd week I managed to hook my inner leg and just practicing to balance in the straight edge. The 3rd week I GOT IT. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif I was in shock https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I dropped down on my knees and cried for joy. I’M STILL IN SHOCK. Last sat night at a dance club with poles, I attempted this move up on stage and got it with the first kick and held my straight edge for 10 sec. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif All my friend’s jaws dropped and the crowed roared. It was my proudest moment. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_queen.gif I”m going to vid tape it and post soon. Thanks to all for the great advice and good wishes. Now I’m off to learn the front handspring mount. Any advice https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif Joni

I guess to each, her own. I love the look of bulky well define upper arm. My arm is just well tone looking. I’m hoping to bulk it up more. There is a woman in my pole class who has really bulky upper arms and I just can’t keep my envious eyes off her arm. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

Hi everyone again, So I managed to turn around into the ayasha from the fallen angel/cross ankle release. But my body was right up against the pole in the ayasha pose and have very little control. And i’m sure it looked as awkward as it felt. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif I drop straight down from the bow and arrow then turned my body around. My butt was not away from the pole like it is suppose to be in the ayasha pose. How do i transition turn into the ayasha with my butt away from the pole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif Thanks, joni

Hi everyone. I was wondering, if this book or dvd genius of flexibility, will his method/principals or theory work with any stretching routine. I have been doing stacy nemours secret to splits and flexibility dvd and love it. In 2 1/2 months, I went from 19 inches to 14 inches in my side splits and really improved my flexibility. I really like her sequence of stretches. My only complain is that she doesn’t hold the stretch long enough on some stretches. So, will this book complement my current routine or do cooleys book do his own stretches/routine? Thanks,JONI

Great job getting the superman. Now you can work on the fall. its not as scary or difficult as it looks. Redken has a great tutorial on it from you tube that i learned from.

Thanks Veena and Nickilee. Nickilee, is both hand thumbs down. My stronger dominant hand is my right hand, Is that suppose to be on top or bottom. When i do my handspring split grip into butterfly, I use my dominant hand on top. so with this move,I was using my dominant hand on top but should it be a baseball grip with thumbs up or also thumb down like the bottom hand https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif Also if my right hand is on top ,do I turn around on the right side? I really appreciate your advice as I want to nail this cool move. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif Thanks, joni

Any suggestion on how to kick up into the cartwheelmount to the point where the outside leg stays close to the inside kicking leg. Everytime i kick forward and kick backup with my inside leg, my outside leg ends up dragging both legs down. Lately, I got to the point where I can hook the pole high with my inside straight leg then can go into the straight edge from there. But , I don’t know if this is a good or bad habit. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif Any tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Joni
