beccagirl,
I’ll be honest with you…
Poling is the best thing ever!!!!!!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
I’ve only been poling for about 2 weeks but it’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made!!
Consider the following:
1) Space. It actually doesn’t require as much space as you may think. Depending on your situation, you can make adjustsments. You could do more stationary poses than wild spins and even in confined space you can still manage spins by being careful. And I’ve tried many a home exercise equipment. A pole takes up far less space than those! My ballet bar takes up more space than my pole.
2) Costs. I personally think it’s cheaper than a gym membership. That last gym I was a member of was $80 a month! And I barely went!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif X-Pole may sound expensive but the quality is extremely high! And if I can’t break it, then it must be good! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif With proper care X-Pole will last you for years and years and years!!! The company I bought my pole from even lets you make installments on it if you like. A much valued option in the economy we have now!
3) Convenience. No waiting in line for machines! You can practice whenever you feel like it! Unless you have boguarting family members. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif
4) Health. One pole can basically be the equivolent of an entire gym!! You get automatic cardio, strength training, increased flexibility and better posture, build and tone, and the dance helps build coordination and balance in the body. And the results are extremely fast!!!
and lastly…
5) It’s just plain out fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif You forget that you are even exercising and you get to express your own personal style and creativity however you see fit!
My advice is to consider Pole Fitness as a worthwhile investment. I’m glad I did!

I’m no anatomy expert but it sounds like a torn muscle to me. If you really feel that you need to go get it checked out then by all means please do! I also tore my hamstrings a while back and I remembered that it took a long long time to heal. And it does take longer for scar tissue to learn to stretch than regular muscle. You can go to a masseuse/physical therapist if you like but he is pretty much going to do the same thing you do yourself. I think by doing pole fitness and exercising regularly, you are doing the best thing for it. But if you feel a therapists structure would be better, then please pursue that. If you decide to handle it on your own, just take it more easy on the injured side. As it heals more you will feel less and less pain and your flexibility will increase in the affected area. My doctor says to treat all of the injuries on our bodies like babies. Just like babies, if you nurture them, massage them, show them love and SPECIAL ATTENTION, they will heal/grow/mature faster. If we neglect them…well you know the rest https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif I hope that helps you out some love. Sorry to hear about your pains!

I broke down and ordered Art of Pole yesterday. I can’t find any classes in my area and many youtube videos are stunning to look at but they don’t provide very much instruction. I also am pretty much all over the place when it comes to do with the pole LOL I think a curriculum based approach would provide me with the structure I need to better evaluate the progress I make and condition my body to start learning harder tricks.

I personally saw nothing wrong with the performance. I would not have had a problem allowing any of my children to watch it. My youngest is 15. But then agian I have done my job as a parent. My kids understand how much strength and hard work it takes to even climb a pole much less to any tricks. They also understand that this sport is no different than any other sport except that this one has had a bad rap from the start. You can take any dance and make it sleazy. I know I get more out of this than yoga yet people have no problem with that. They teach it at our local high school.
They teach pole dance at your local high school?!?! OMG I wanna go there!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
