Not the best photo but it was a good few years ago and can't find any otheres

Clothes 'blood' was applied a few days prior – relative had great fun pouring a whole bowl of it over me while I stood on the driveway, figured it would be less messy to let it dry rather than go to a club with it still wet! It must have looked convincing enough from a distance as I had quite a few people come over and ask me if I was alright!

I made fake blood for a Halloween costume and used kids washable paint mixed with coffee granules (gives that dark, clotted effect – but you'll smell of coffee! Apparently chocolate powder achieves similar and may be preferable in scent). I think maybe a bit of PVA glue in there to help it set rather than rub off on everything too – though it was mostly chucked over clothes and some on my face.

Flooring shouldn't slip as the pole will be a tighter fit and hold it in place. I know there were a few threads and a video posted on here recently of a homemade flooring, could be worth checking out.
The problem I found with mine is that if I fit the extension, I don't have the room to mount the pole in place as it's too long, I can't get the poles to meet in the middle and screw together. I have an older style X-Pole though so perhaps that's why, I know the new ones don't screw together the same way.

Could you might a lightweight solid flooring that folds away? Couple of bits of plywood hinged on the underside or similar so it folds up and packs away? My pole only goes up temporarily so I'm going to try to make the same kind of thing.

Another option to consider is making/buying a floor to place under the pole. My pole is right at its limit but won’t fit with the next extension up so I’m going to make a floor for it which will mean the distance will be a few mm less and hopefully make it sturdier. The pole has slipped a few times as it is, even with novice moves!

Whoops – that should say "out of the country" – fingers typed quicker than my brain could process it!
