Karol: Thanks for coming to Ottawa! Your workshops were fabulous and it was so nice meeting you. I really loved the floor routine you taught us–thanks for going over it again with me today. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Joni: It was lovely meeting you too! You’re a crazy, crazy woman for taking 7 hours of workshop in a row. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif Hopefully I’ll get a chance to attend one of your fabulous pole jams one of these days.

And a special thank you to Ottawa Pole Fitness for organizing the festivities. Yay!

    Hey!

It was nice meeting you yesterday–weren’t those great workshops?? Karol’s awesome. I came home afterward and wrote notes furiously, LOL. Hopefully I didn’t forget anything major.

Welcome to the site! I’m glad you found it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Are there any more details about Fleur’s workshops in Montreal yet? Some of us Ottawa girls would like to roadtrip over for them! =D

Well, that works out then! Even if it is in a less than ideal way.

Are there still other ladies coming from out-of-town? There were several earlier in this thread, but the conversation has become strangely 2-sided recently.

In any event, I’m looking forward to meeting any and all Veeners coming to visit my town this weekend. I’ll try to be recognizable for you all… I don’t have any Studio Veena wear, unfortunately, but I do wear a pretty bold pair of fuchsia glasses sometimes. I’ll try to remember to wear them this weekend. That should help.

    See you all there!

It would probably be really helpful if you could post a video of yourself practicing some of the moves you typically use. It’s entirely possible that it might be something as simple as correcting your grip, but it’s hard to tell without seeing what you’re doing.

Doh!! There’s no point coming all this way and just sitting around in a hotel room all evening!!! I’ll check if it’s ok to invite some people over for a private Saturday evening after-party. We could also look into other options, like booking some time at one of the local studios or touring the strip clubs. I’m sure we can figure out something for all the Veeners to do! =)

The studio is about 2-3 blocks past the edge of Chinatown and Little Italy, so there’s bound to be lots of good restaurant options in the area. I’m embarrassed to admit I’m not familiar with them though… LOL!

Will anybody be attending the Meet ‘n Greet on Friday evening? I was thinking about swinging by for that even though I’m not taking any of the workshops that evening.

So who all is coming? What are your plans for the weekend? Would anyone be interested in getting together outside of the workshops? So exciting!! I can’t wait to meet everybody.

Did you pay using a credit card? If so, check what kind of purchase protection they offer. You may be able to dispute it through your credit card company directly. If you didn’t, well, you’re probably SOL. =/

    Good luck!

    So… final update:

PayPal ruled in my favor and recovered my money. Yay! Lost a few dollars due to exchange rate fluctuations, but oh well. I’m just glad the dispute resolution process actually works. The trick is to be aware of the deadlines and file your dispute before the window of opportunity closes.

Never did hear anything from the company. Oh well.

I was taught this as the "scottish" spin. I have no idea where the name comes from.

I didn’t receive any response from the company during the PayPal dispute process, so I’ve now escalated it to a claim to get my money back. They have a couple more weeks to get around to resolving the issue before I see my money, but at this point I honestly don’t expect any response.

What a terrible way to run a business.

There’s a good trick for avoid foot spasms from pointing your toes. Instead of pushing down / curling your toes to achieve the pointed look, try pulling the heel up. It engages different muscles, so your foot actually stays fairly relaxed while in the pointed position.

I just signed up for two of the Saturday classes: floor work at 3:30pm and spins at 5:00pm. So exciting!

I’m also totally pumped that a bunch of you ladies are coming to town for the weekend. We should plan some sort of Veeners mini-event!

I ordered a copy in February–hoping that the distribution issues had passed by then, but no such luck. I still haven’t received it or even a shipping notification. I also have not received any response to the email I sent inquiring about my order.

So, as a result, I initiated a dispute through PayPal this past weekend. No response as of yet, but it’s only been 1 business day. We’ll see what happens.
