@miamishyner: Yep, I've been to the rig.. I went often last summer but was sadly not able to make it out this season due to my work schedule changing. Maybe next year!
@PoleFitMom: I would totally be up for that!

Hi there 🙂
I will definitely be seeing you, since I am also planning to take the aerial yoga training that weekend! I teach and take classes at L'Ru Studios so of course my biased opinion would be to check out our studio! We do aerial classes as well as pole so if you are around on some of the aerial nights it would be fun to do a class! Lesley, the owner, is fabulous & her pole classes are a treat. I also like to take classes at Tease Studio sometimes when I am in the mood for something different- they have a nice schedule & some fun things going on.

I teach at a local studio… I teach on 2 days of the week. One day I offer 3 classes (only one is pole, the other 2 are aerial/circus related). On the other day, which is every other week because I rotate with another instructor, I offer 4 classes… a pole boot camp, an aerial class, a pole class, & a hoop class. I also have a full-time job in retail management, I take at least 2 (sometimes more) pole classes a week, as well as yoga almost every day & spin/core classes as my schedule allows. I don't get as much pole practice time as I wish I did, but I have a pole at home so my excuses are just… excuses! 🙂

I go to one studio regularly, but I sometimes take classes or workshops at a few other studios in town. I don't see any problem with it! All of the studios around where I live (I am lucky to live in an area with a LOT of pole studios!) have different attributes to recommend them. I mainly stick to one studio due to the relationships I have with the instructors & the other ladies who go there- which definitely makes me feel some "loyalty."
There is only one studio locally that I will probably not ever take a class or workshop from, & that is basically due to me feeling uncomfortable because of some conversation I had with the owners about the studio I normally pole at. I really dislike cattiness & competitiveness in this arena & see no reason for it, so any studio who would be negative about another one.. I don't want to go there!

She looks like she is dancing to me. Just because she isn't grinding on the pole or doing hip rolls.. doesn't mean it's not dancing. Maybe it's not sensual dancing, but it's not just straight gymnastics either!

yogabeachbabe- I would be happy to come down & talk about the workshops w/you whenever I could find some time.. there was a lot of really fun stuff. I'm not sure what levels of things you already know. For me– some of it was a refresher, some of it was totally new, & some things were new ways to try things I'd already tried before. I do live in Boulder– very close to y'all actually. After looking at your profile, we already know each other! From classes at L'Ru.

I was also lucky enough to take several workshops.. Jess' Handstands & Inversions, Hanka's Tricks & Combos, & Carolyn's Yoga Pole. All were a lot of fun & such a great price. My muscles are super sore tonight!

I've done silks for a couple of years also. I have found that practicing silks really helped me a lot with my strength on the pole as well! There are also some moves I struggled with on the pole (like the basic "chopper" invert) that once I practiced it on the silks a little, it was easier for me to get on the pole also!

I have hosted a few bachelorette parties at my studio & we do pretty basic stuff- teach the ladies to do a sexy walk, a few nice pole styles, some sexy transition moves, easy spins. If the group isn't too rowdy/they are capable then we sometimes do some basic fireman spins or things like that. Usually a little dance demo of more advanced moves if they are interested, then put everything together into a routine & let them freestyle, then take some pics at the end!
