Oh yes, my apologies. It is a Lil Mynx. I do plan to buy the feet soon. I was just hoping to find out if the pole is safe enough to be installed on carpet without them or with the non-skid pad.

I would have been happy to explain if the two women had asked me, but I find it just a little creepy that they followed me for 5 whole minutes and then walked away. Maybe they didn’t want to mention something while hubby was with me but still. I mean eventually he wandered off and they followed me around so… I don’t know. It was just funny. Next time I’ll double check and wear pants to avoid little mishaps like that. For all I know the next person could make a big commotion about it.

That is so cool that your students and family have got your back. And bless your momma's heart for standing up for you. I'm sure it bugged her a lot to have someone call her daughter a stripper. 🙂 I know my own mother and her old fashion ways would have flipped.

I think it really just depends on what is most comfortable for you both. It sounds like he wants to be supportive, however I completely understand the hesitation as I wouldn't feel comfortable doing so in front of my own father (old fashion thinking and whatnot). Just certain aspects may not be considered appropriate based on the father/daughter relationship.

I don't completely believe in the saying "If you are doing something you wouldn't show your parents, then you probably shouldn't be doing it". There are just some things you do and don't do in front of certain people for various reasons.

I do hope you invite him though. It could be a great experience for you both and you'll have the support of your father there.

    Hi kamikagurl,

I rent a shoe box sized studio apartment with shady people next door so I totally understand where you're coming from. Before I even considered getting my pole I made sure that my landlord was ok with it. I have a SV pole so it can easily be taken down and put back up. No noise at all. I also made sure that there would be enough dancing room for me to work with.

In my humble opinion, if you think you don't have enough dancing space or think you may be moving some time in the near future then maybe you should wait. But other than that I say totally go for it! You'll be glad you did.

Will distilled white vinegar affect a powder coated pole? I realize that a small amount used on the hands wouldn't affect it too badly in the short term but over time would the finish start to tarnish or will the grip be affected in some sort of way?

I watched the video and although I personally didn't like the song or the video, I don't think it will do much "damage" as other videos that show case pole dancers in the same kind of light would. My Darkest Days "Porn Star Dancing" and Enrique Iglesias "Dirty Dancer" are a couple examples I know of that don't make me think any less of the dance. Those who don't know what pole dancing is really all about, they wouldn't see the power behind the holds or the flexibility in the dances as we see them. We shouldn't let their ignorance slow us down one bit. The culture of pole is growing beautifully strong on it's own without having to defend it self against pop culture icons and their displays.

Since it is one's self esteem that takes a beating in such situations like this, I will say that without a doubt what matters more is what YOU think or feel about YOUR body. Parterns will come and go, and in the end you have yourself to assess. Are you happy with the way you changed yourself? Will staying the same or going back bring you more joy? When his opinion doesn't matter anymore will the changes have been worth it? Are you really changing for yourself or for someone else?

I wont lie and say I don't think about my hubby's opinions, because they do mean a lot to me. I admit I do things just for him that I normally wouldn't do otherwise just to make him happy. But if I am happy with where I am at in regards to how I look, weigh, and feel then that is what should matter in the end. I take his preferences into consideration but ultimately my feelings are at stake so I will do what makes me comfortable in my own skin.

Hubby tried showing off his awesome skills but you're right girls. As soon as it came to any flexibility he practically belly flopped. Belly pole burn is SO not what he expected hehe. But he did compliment that my transition from the ground into a fireman was looking better 🙂 Progress!!!

Oh ya that is so annoying. Cool but annoying. Then again a man's build is much different from a woman's, especially in the upper body and strength area. Guess I'll give him that 😛
