Shimmy, Dirdy Birdy, … all the famous Aussies really and Aerial Amy… I can't believe there aren't more people in love with the Aussies in here. They're amazing. Their competitions are completely unique compared to the rest of the world! They have amazing tricks, gorgeous detailed costumes, and are really into the 'wow factor'… They tell stories with their dance. And seriously, Firework shoes?!

Tendonitis on it's own wouldn't be likely to cause numbness. The hand is innervated by 3 nerves. The pinkie and ring finger are innervated by a different nerve (the ulnar nerve) than the other fingers. It is possible that there is something irritating your ulnar nerve anywhere along its course from the spine all the way to the hand but quite often at the elbow which can be related to tendonitis. If you are feeling numbness/paralysis, it's a sign you should see a doctor and have it examined.

Lots of stretching and mobility practice. First- make sure your muscles are very warmed up before you start stretching for flexibility training. Look into foam rolling. It will aid in loosening and prepare you for a deeper stretch.
If you subscribe to Veena's lessons- she has a lot of exercises and a long video on improving back mobility which incluldes a decent amount of foam rolling. https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4f5fbd45-6c18-4371-84a6-3f4a0ac37250 If not, you can find decent video demos on youtube. Cat/Cow, camel, cobra/half cobra, and bridge are my favorites. King pigeon is also good but very hard if you're very tight. If you can use yoga straps while practicing you can work your way to it slowly and safely.
Also, make sure you're doing strength conditioning at the same time. The back is very susceptible to injury if you increase flexibility rapidly without corresponding strength training. Again, Veena has some good videos on it in her conditioning section. I feel like I get the most out of supermans.

That site's kinda disturbing… what a creepy guy.

A lot of famous pole dancers have their own tshirts for sale. Many studios have some neat shirt options too.

I don't compete usually, but I publicly perform quite a bit.
1. Make sure it's a song you're super familiar with… If something goes wrong, you can freestyle through it because you're so comfortable with the song.
2. Pick a song you love and feel throughout your body because it shows when you're dancing. If you are happy and feeling it, it will come across to the audience/judges.
3. A song that is super popular will please the crowd but can take away from the audience focus on your dance. If the crowd is rocking out to the song, they may be less… concentrated on your skills. I use this a lot to my advantage when I freestyle because the audience is loving the song, they tend to be more forgiving when a rogue toe goes unpointed. (Crowds love Journey- but that depends on your audience) For competition, you may want the judges FOCUSED on you and not your music.
4. Don't pick a song that is generally considered unpopular or unsuited to the competition. Make sure it meets competition requirements (if they have stipulations about vulgar language or length, for example). In one of the few comps I did do, I had points (unfairly) deducted because the judges did not like my music. –Everyone else was doing R&B and Top 40 and I did Puscifer…In the end, just bite the bullet, pick one that meets your criteria and commit. Once you do that, it's easy to focus on your routine and move past.

I've been looking for a us vendor… can't seem to find one.

Does anyone have Cleo's dvd? Is it good? Are there any US vendors that sell it or do you have to get it shipped from Australia? My birthday's coming up and I was thinking about asking for it.

It's actually a bad time of year for legwarmer purchases. Most stores stock them late summer/early fall. If you want to buy some now, you'll have to go to an online store like sockdreams or foottraffic. I'd go for something that says super long. http://www.sockdreams.com/products/accessories/leg-warmers/?p=1&sort=sockcategoryproductlink_SortOrder&pp=all

Ugh. I can't wait to be a real doctor. :/

I've been poling for 7 years and have bought the same make/model/size of pleasers for all seven years (kiss 209). I bought one pair in Oct and they were too small… I don't know why. Weirdest thing ever. I have bought another pair since and they fit again.

Hey Ana…longname… I don't believe we've met. I'm Korinne from the showcase. Ice, NSAIDS, and take it easy for a couple weeks. If it's bad enough that you can't lift your purse, you shouldn't be putting your body weight on it for a while.
