I LOVE this thread…except for me it’s the complete opposite. I love strip clubs and have been trying to talk my husband into us going to one together. I haven’t been to one since before he and I got together (almost 5 yrs now) He is the one that is a little uneasy about it! He said that he would feel like he was disrespecting me by looking at other girls when I’m right there….I say what’s the difference if I’m there or not??? So any tips on getting him to go with me?? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
heee!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif My husband is a little funny about it too, before we met he used to love them and dated (I use that term loosely) a few dancers and yeah he’ll still go with his friends for the random ‘guy’s night’ or whatever, but he’s not so much into it when I’m there……. He totally won’t get dances if I’m there (unless it’s one together https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif ) I think the real reason he hates them is because of how $$$ they are – these girls are there to make money – Jacq if you go be prepared to pay them right! And regarding some of the points Pole-Twista made, I’ve definitely encountered the irritated stripper unhappy to see other chicks in the club. Personally I think it’s easier to go with a guy, or a few guys. If you’re nervous, just relax and be a wallflower – the girls will probably ignore you for a while and treat the guys like normal and it’s really interesting to watch the whole thing. A group of pretty girls can be intimidating – ugh, I’ve been out with chicks who acted all snotty and it was awful- of course the dancers hated us. So be chill, and just be nice.
I have to say I do think it sounds like you husband is turned on by your pole-dancing in general and that’s his motivation! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif IDK – I’d say to just keep open communication with him, for sure don’t do anything you don’t feel right about https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_queen.gif

^^^ Jacq that would be such a fun place to to a pole jam-style meetup! Those little sleeper bars are the best to take over with a bunch of friends https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_viking.gif

Haha that’s rad Jungle Cat! Where do you go out dancing where there’s a pole? (sorry if I’ve missed it in other posts) In my city our choices are walk-in work at an exotic club (which we haven’t had the balls to do yet) or there’s an awesome gay club with a pole so we always end up there! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif. My fronds and I went out on Saturday and had so much fun- there’s a pic of us (though it’s just my leg) in my profile pics. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I LOVE to party at strip clubs! I don’t get to go near as often as I’d like……usually because I get so wheels off and I end up spending way too much of my husband’s money https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif You should really go Jaq, they really aren’t quite what you think, and if you’re sweet and friendly to the dancer’s they’ll love it and be totally sweet to you back. Haha, I ususally leave with girl’s numbers to get our kids together for playdates, it always annoys my hubby’s friends https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Thanks so much Rouge!
I just found out the woman I took private lessons from is about to open a studio – YAY! I’m so excited – it will be so perfect to start teaching with her….and letting her take on all the liability https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Lily, the titanium is the Gold! Thats why you’ll here people call it the (TG titanium gold) and you can get it in the "skinny" 45mm! My first pole was a PS pole and I didn’t care for it but I know some people do like them. I had the permanent kind but I didn’t care for the stainless steel finish. The x pole is a great value for the home poler. I’m the only one that I’m aware of offering free shipping in the US and we sell our poles at a very reasonable price. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
SWEET! Thank you, I am definitely going to encourage her to go with it over the PS, the price is so close and all the positive reviews of the X-Pole are too convincing.

I’m bumping this thread – does anyone has experience with the Platinum Stages ‘Skinny’ (1.75") pole?
I had posted on here previously that I started with an X-pole…..and it turns out I’m a total dumbass it was actually a Platinum Stages pole…..sorry, I have no idea why I thought it was X-pole!
My friend and I went in together on it, and purchased it directly from the dancer we’d been taking lessons from, a 2-inch removable pole for $420…..looking on their website their most expensive removable pole is $329, so I am confused right now as to which of their poles we purchased, Regardless, it’s really been a fantastic pole – super sturdy and secure, my only complaint is the slippery grip and the wide circumference.
I ended up buying the Bobbi’s Pole which I LOVE LOVE LOVE – it’s beautiful brass and super skinny at 1.5 inches. The only problem with it is the price, at $900 it’s pretty outrageous. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
SO, another friend is now wanting a pole, YAY! she loves the skinnier width too and is about to purchase the PS ‘Skinny’ pole for $299, but I have some reservations about it. The PS pole I bought specifically says on the packaging ‘NOT for people over 200 pounds’ and ‘Do NOT invert your body’. It’s the exact same pole the dancer I was taking lessons from uses all the time, she’s a big fan of PS and is really incredible on the pole – she does tons of inverts all the time. She also does alot of drag shows and takes her poles, she says she has 250lb+ drag queens up on it all the time and has never had a problem. So, that makes me want to trust it and give their skinny pole a try…..but I really dislike that on their website they describe their poles as ‘stripper’ poles, and of course the warnings on the one I bought are worrisome, it obviously does not seem intended for hard-core pole dancing.
For the additional $30, I am really thinking I should steer her towards a 45mm X-pole. I just thought I would check here to see if I could find any personal reviews on the 45mm PS pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
Veena I only see options for titanium and chrome on your site – can the GOLD titanium 45mm be ordered through you?

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I had both my children naturally too – my last birth was *almost* a water birth, it was in a birthing center rather than my home but YES I am a big fan of waterbirth and the midwifery care model – I love to talk about it too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Thanks for the replies, Rouge if you end up doing the Vertical Dance certification I’d love to know how it goes – the fact that it’s virtual makes it a possibility as traveling somewhere to do it is not practical for me….I wish it was!
I guess I’m really wondering how essential it is to be certified, and how accredited these organizations are. I’m wondering if basic aerobic certification and first aid/cpr classes would be good boxes to check as well……
Pole-Twista, I have a lot of questions about the liability with teaching Pole Dance too, well if I get more serious and start talking to attorneys and insurers I’ll be sure to pass on what I learn. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

MemberApril 3, 2009 at 9:28 pm in reply to: Any tips on practicing pole dance during pregnancy?Congrats on your pregnancy Catharsis! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif ITA with Veena that it’s the best thing in the world! At least it’s best thing in this world I’ve ever done. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I don’t have any pregnancy pole experience to share, but I’ve always loved to run and during both my pregnancies I just backed it down to walking and pre-natal yoga. It’s really a cool time to be chill and gentle on yourself, though I definitely think staying active is extremely important.
If I have another baby I’m sure I’ll take this advice from Veena….
Dance around…do hip rolls feel sexy with your new body! Practice moving in a controlled manner and take this as an opportunity to practice good posture while dancing. Work on breathing, pointing your toes (if you are having leg cramps then avoid pointing toes) and having soft hand while you dance. My movements became even more fluid because thats all I could really work on after the 6th month or so.
Take care of yourself! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

I did not get creative on this…. I named my Bobbi’s Pole ‘Bobbi’

Thanks Joel! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I actually think I’ve figured another solution for a little while….my kids have a playscape with a fireman pole on super soft grass, so I’ve been working on inverts out there lately https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
I really have been having ‘pole fear’ since that fall though, I’m being such a baby – I need to get over it and own the pole!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_viking.gif
