Double ugh….I have some of the same issues with having my family accept the pole dancing…..my husband’s been pretty cool (and of course turned on https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif ) by it….but also a little worried about our kids, and our families reactions to it. Both our parents have seen the pole and have been surprisingly silent about it so far…..but the more I do this the more I’m dreaming about doing something lucrative with it – Veena you have been such an inspiration! BTW I really admire how open and honest you are here – you are all kinds of fabulous! Anyway…..if I started to try teaching or something, that obviously brings it to a new level where I would have to promote myself as a dancer, and my husband’s quite apprehensive. On a happier note that’s not really related to the topic….. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I just HAVE to relay this story about my 3-year old daughter… she loves to make funny movies on my macbook, videoing herself singing and stuff, well yesterday she was doing that singing ‘row row row your boat’ and ending it with instead of ‘life is but a dream’ ‘ life is but a spaghetti’ , or a hairbrush or something silly. ITA with so much of the advice given https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif It really is incredibly simple – burn more calories than you take in and you will lose weight. Finding exercise you love is key (POLE https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif ) and enjoying the freshest, most wholesome food you can afford…..in healthy portions of course. I’ve been learning on the X-pole and most recently the Bobbi’s pole, both are awesome IMO – I think getting a pole similar to what you’re used to would be a good place to start – can’t wait for you to post a video!

I took me a loooong time to just hold myself up on the pole – definitely do other strength training. I did alot of push-ups in the beginning, and I also practice being inverted by going upside down against a wall and just try to work on feeling comfortable and using my arms to hold my weight. I also do pole workouts without any dancing, where I just practice pulling myself up on each side to work both sides of my body equally. lol I love it! You really have to look at it that way – I am continually shocked at how brutal this sport is. I agree – the only cure is to keep on keepin’ ON!
