Litlbit, I have to tell you how awesome you are!!! You look fantastic and so energetic, props for taking on a new sport like this at past 50, I’m truly inspired!
I was 31 last February, I have a 1 year old son and 3 year old daughter. I did jazz and tap dance as a child, cheered in high school, been a regular runner for years and always loved being active. I gained and lost 50 pounds with each pregnancy, other than that my weight has been right around 105 since I hit 5’4" at 16. Pole dance is definitly helping me stay at that weight these days and has really firmed up my whole body like it’s never been, I LOVE it!!!!

My pole is 35mm, and I love it – I have quite small hands and have a really difficult time with a 50mm. What type of pole are you looking at with that diameter?

Hang in there – and be tough!! It really is such a brutally physical sport – meeting the challenge is part of the high!! My only advice is to go slow….I feel like I am going at a turtle’s pace because of the pain too….take time off if you need but don’t take time off from stretching and strength exersices (k I need to take my own advice here https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif ) and you’ll see improvement the next time you brave the pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_viking.gif

Oh Aliira I’m so sorry https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I miscarried my first pregnancy, it was very early as well but it was still incredibly emotionally and physically painful https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif It will take time to heal, talking to other women and yes gentle exercise will help – we really are here for you. xoxo

Glitterhips I could have written your exact post! I am pretty frustrated right now too…..I’ve been really working on the Reverse Grab and I seriously need to bulk up my arm strength – I suck! I also got some pretty gnarly bruises from going out pole dancing with my girlfriends last weekend and I’m just feeling kinda spent. I have been thinking about taking a break from the pole for maybe a week and focus on stretching and strength exercises.

ITA with pre-natal yoga, I loved it! If you can’t find a class or attend one for any reason, visit the library or a bookstore- there are many great books on this subject. I hope you’re feeling okay – I had such awful ‘all-day’ sickness during those early months!

Loving acceptance only creates more space in my heart. Gee, I should make that my mantra, shouldn’t I?
It’s a good one!! I have been blessed with 2 children, and also feel very lucky that I bounced back from pregnancy well – my stretch marks are minor enough that only I can see them and it has to be just the right unflattering light, my breasts are softer for sure but I had implants prior to becoming pregnant so I think they have done alot to keep their shape. My stomach does do frightening things when I bend over…but I figure gravity would have taken over eventually whether I had children or not…..they are of course SO worth every little thing! Pregnancy and motherhood has really changed the way I view my body, I’m much kinder, more accepting and less critical of myself – it’s been such a positive thing for me. I’ve always been active and exercised, but honestly my body has never looked like this, or been this lean and muscular in my whole life – even prior to children…..thanks to the POLE!!
