Ir is a hard floor….it's solid all the qay through and it comes in different thickness's.  It is a vinul yupe product but not like a normal vinyl floor you would find say in someone's bath or kitchen.  You can look it up at http://www.armstrong.com/commflooringna/products/biobased-tile tht'a what I have.  I went through a local company that orfered it in.  I have 1500 sq feet.

The commercial flooring I have is made of a PVC type vinyl.  It's a standard for business floors.

nymphdancer…there is red it as well!  I used gray, black, purple and red on the random colors…I LOVE red too!!!   I couldn't afford to do laminate, I have it in my home.  We've also used commercial tile in our previous homes for the rec rooms and it held up to black heel marks kids you name it!  And cleaned up easily.  I LOVE the flooring so decided to to put it in the new studio…I couldn't be happier!!!

I use commercial tile (a type of vinyl) in my studio.  It is easy care, easy to clean, very inexpensive, holds up to heels and is AWESOME for pirouettes and floor work!  The students love it amd so do I!!!

OOPS!!  I've been poling four just over 4 years now, I pole daily now because I teach.  I have greater ROM than when I was younger, and my back is more flexible as well. 🙂

Hi earthpanther!  I suffered with chronic back pain for years….since I was 16.  I was diagnosed with left sided lower Lordosis.  I was in to a chiropractor 3 times a week every week for 18 years!  I started poling and about two months into it noticed my pain was less and my need for an adjustment became less.  I finally had no need to see my chiro!!  I have been pain free for just over 4 years now!  For me I believe pole strengthened my core when the exercises the chiro or physical therapists gave me didn't help or work.  The muscles in my back that hold my spine are now strong and my vertebrae do not slip out of place anymore!!  I have students that have also gotten relief from back pain due to poling!  I'm a retired nurse and I know for me this was like a CURE!!!  I still have no pain, I will be 56 in Dec. and it's awesome to be pain free in my later years!!!

Thanks ladies!!  I appreciate the suggestions!!  I do like the grip on the stainless always have!  I cannot get a grip on the x-pole long enough to do anything!! lol  My main concern is having poles that will not give or fall…and I'm so tired of tearing down poles to clean put up again to make sure they stay tight!!

They haven't changed the pad, but, but I do think a smoother ceiling would have a problem for holding.  I have heavy popcorn textured ceilings.

My 1st pole was a lil mynx pro pole.  I loved it!  I learned everything on it and never had issues with it coming loose or coming down.  I only used the tension friction mount not the screw.  I have had mine for 5 years now and even had one in my studio intil a few months ago because I needed to put up another 45mm pole and didn't have any space.  I still have the pro pole and it still works as good as the day I got it!  I find it much easier to use and without the problems my x-poles give me!

My x-sport has done that since I first got it.  X-pole replaced the joints and it didn't stop the noise.  It's the only pole I have that does that.  The x-perts don't….we just live with it and the students are used to the sound.  It is up right etc.  A friend of mine he thinks it's becaise the adjuster rod is narrower than the pole and with out a cover to stabilize it on spins etc. that may be why it creaks.  Makes sense to me! LOL

I'm only repeating what my dematologist told me.  These are not my words chemgoddess1.  She stated everything to a certain degree is absorbed because the skin is porus, that's why patches are so effective.   I'll let you two argue that one LOL

I don't use any of those products.  Any chemical you put on your skin is absorbed into the bloodstream and is processed through your organs.  I was told about a product by my physican called "Fake Bake" , it is all natural, organic and no preservatives.  It goes on without streaks because you see the tan immediately.  You use it for a week every night or until you reach to the color/darkness you want.  you shower off the eccess in the morning and re-apply only once a week to maintain it.  It fades naturally just like a tan.  It washes out of your bedding easily.  I've been using it for about 4 years now and I LOVE IT!!  It also softens your skin!  I use the lotion form in the brown bottle.  I also use the face tan.  It only costs around $35 for both.  It lasts me most of the summer.  You stll need to use a good sun screen.

You can get it at http://fakebake.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=FBTU&Category_Code=FakeBake

May 12, 2011 at 10:30 pm in reply to: Sharing Poles In Class

I have four poles in my studio.  My classes are usually eight students and always myself and another instructor.  There are two students per pole.  The reason for this is that it is neccessary to rest in between, just as you would rest between sets of lifting weights.  It is important as we use our muscles differently and more of them with pole….it is important that my students have time for proper conditioning and strength training to prevent injury.

As a studio owner I am a stickler for safety as liability with pole is higher than say a regular gym program.  So I stress proper hand placement, body alignment, and teach proper falling in the classes preparing for inversions.  I came to this conclusion/decission based on my own experience when I was self teaching.  Believe me, with the expense of studio rent, insurance, teacher wages, workers comp insurance, unemployment insurance, etc. my students are getting their moneys worth.

I deliver quality for their benefit and no one complains.  If a student wants more time on the pole they can attend open pole or transfer to private sessions.  I do what best for all concerned.  This is my passion and livelyhood.  I want to deliver the best!
