I’m not sure what chem was referring to, but thank you for sharing your feelings. My mom was an alcoholic, so I know a bit about it. I think it makes drinkers feel guilty to drink around non drinkers. I can DEFINITELY understand how it could impact building relationships. I have a lot of problems building friendships because I’m the Adult Child of an Alcoholic (Acoa). Stuff like that impacts a lot about a person. Thanks for feeling comfortable enough to share your difficulties. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m sure there are some that feel that way..but the people I’m referring to aren’t in that group because whenever we went out they could get drunk because they knew they had me to drive them home safely. I don’t tell people i’m an alcoholic, it’s not important to anyone but me. I do however take referral calls if someone has asked for help. I spent over 25 years in therapy learning how to express and acknowledge my feelings, and how to tell people how and what I’m feeling, it’s part of how I stay sober and clean. I feel alone most of the time, then to put my feelings out there makes me feel alone and vulnerable.

This is garbage, but then I have family and friends that are alcoholics.

I apologize, I wasn’t implying that everyone is this way, just people I meet where I live. I have a hard time sharing my feelings as I was brought up to never talk about them. It was hard to post…I don’t mean for things to come out the way they seem to.

    I just don’t know where I belong https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

quote..STL, I have to say – it is much harder to make friends as an ADULT than as a child/teen. This is a lesson that was hard for me to learn.

It is hard as an adult. I’ve also found it almost impossible to build a friendship with a person because I am a "recovering" alcoholic. I have been sober for almost 30 years now, and when people find out I don’t drink they ignore me. I like to go out to the clubs and dance/listen to bands…none of that has changed for me. I just choose to drink soda instead. I don’t have a problem with people that choose to drink alcohol…why must I be judged for my choice? The only time I seem to be included or invited out is when someone needs a DD (designated driver)…I started saying no awhile back because I didn’t want to be only "used"…well needless to say I haven’t been invited out since.

It took me a lot of years to break out of my shell, and now I’m more lonely than ever…and it makes me sad https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

WOW can I relate!! I moved to this state in 1978 because my now husband wouldn’t leave when he was born and raised here. I left everyone behind and the few friends I made left the state as they graduated from college. I’m all alone except for my students and can hang with my niece once every few months. I understand lonely!! I am going to be 55 next month and the only place I feel I have any friends is on this forum. But at least I have all of you and doing a job now that I LOVE. So hang in there and stick with us…I know it’s not the same…but it really does help!! HUGZ!

Good luck with that. I got over my dizziness and feeling sick when I was told to look at the pole, because when you are spinning the room and everything in it is appearing to move around, but the pole stays in position. This is the only thing that helped me. It what the ice skating coach from a local facility told me. A;so to stop and go in the opposite direction to gain back fluid balance in your inner ear. Just suggesting what helped me get over it. *HUGZ*

I have that happen when my sinuses act up, I get fluid trapped behind the tympanic membrane and that always requires an anti biotic to clear up the fluid and to prevent infection from being trapped (I never had pain with it). See if the sudafed works..if it doesn’t help in 24 hours you may need an anti biotic….sorry not much help. *HUGZ*

Wait wait…..please don’t stop training part of your lower body, this will cause an imbalance which in return can cause knee problems, hip ect. You have to strengthen the body as a whole! Never work the quads and skip the hamstrings for example. This goes for stretching too. You could switch to lower body once a week, and you must be sure to stretch really well after, I personally stretch during as well.

Veena’s right! Don’t skip them! As for stretching before, it’s a debate right now in the industry as to whether or not it helps prevent injury…HOWEVER everyone IS in agreement that the body must be warm before doing anything strenuous. Stretching between sets is recommended by sports medicine physicians and exercise physiologists. My trainer makes me stretch between sets…and of course after your activity stretching is crucial! I’ve been told to stretch for no less than 20 minutes and stretch everything after my workouts. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
