I didn’t try the inverted crucifix until I could hold it from the floor (in a handstand then releasing my hands, so if I slipped I didn’t break something…like my HEAD! LOL). I slowly increased my time of holding until I felt comfortable and strong enough…when I could hold for 3 minutes or more then I went up on the pole. I’m really careful because I don’t have a crash mat or loose sofa cushions to use. Everything I’ve done I started with the floor.

Congrats on your sticking with it ladies!!! I’m soooo proud of you guys!!! I started my intense training and have been put on a 1800 calorie diet to get down to 16% body-fat, then my trainer will re access because I may need to up it depending on how my body looks. Some people can compete with 18% or more for Figure because their definition in muscle shows really well and the point is to not look skinny and bony, but symmetrical and ripped. I will try to start posting pics, he will be taking the starting pics on Monday….I have A LOT OF WORK TO DO!!! LOL Keep it going girls!!!

YUP! You have to leave space for expanding and contracting. The pole doesn’t cause any more pressure than a heavy piece of furniture, my contractor had to ease our minds by putting my pole up and hanging on it himself! LOL

Oh forgot to mention…I have not had any issues with my floor and I move my pole around a lot because we don’t have enough room for it to stay up all the time.

I have floating floors…we put them in in April and it has not been a problem, they are made to distribute weight on uneven surfaces…I spoke with my contractor before it was installed…he stated ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM…so Happy POLING!!!!

That’s AWESOME if you have the space….however I don’t, but that doesn’t stop me from working on moves/tricks/inverts etc. I may not be able to do big spins, but at least I can do something! LOL I have had my pole with me on trips staying in hotels where I had maybe 2 feet from the bed and dresser/desk, I still practiced moves and even a few spins kicking my legs above the bed ha ha.

LOL…YES, it does get better! When you become more comfortable and learn to BREATHE upside down haha…Veena I believe addressed this recently. I am 54 so I will always have some type of scary thing looking back at me…which is why I don’t use mirrors! LOL

MommaBear…I experienced the same thing when I started…I talked with a Doctor I worked with at the time, he said that was normal starting any activity that involves cardio when your new to it (he equated it to HIIT, High Interval Intensity Training because poling in his opinion is a form of HIIT). He also told me that the dizziness subsides after a bit because it throws off our equilibrium, unlike children who spin all the time…we stop doing thos type of activities as we grow older so it creates a fluid imbalance in the inner ear…anyway it doesn’t take long to balance out when we do it on a regular basis. It made perfect sense to me! and yes it did at first resemble the physiological changes I felt when going into a panic attack.

I no longer have those feelings and can spin like crazy on spinny mode and not get dizzy or ill feeling! WOOT WOOT LOL

DEFINITELY YEEEESSSS!!!! I suffered with depression and severe panic attacks for many years. I was on medication and it didn’t seem to help much. When I started to exercise the panic attacks became less severe but I still battled with depression. I added pole to my fitness for the cardio…BUT! also found my depression leaving me!! I stopped taking medication almost 4 years ago now…I have not had a panic attack in 2 1/2 yrs, and my down times are very short lived and I can cope…they don’t isolate me and keep me in bed and crying!!! SO, YESSSSSS poling has HELPED ME IMMENSELY!!! As a nurse I know how important movement is to allow our bodies to use their own chemicals to help us. We were born with the ability to help our bodies help ourselves.

YES! I remove my all the time because I don’t have any room to keep it set up. I can only put it in my living room so I put it up and take it down all the time and store it under my bed. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
