With forearm grip your hand is still on the pole with your forearm resting on the pole to help stabilize you.
Elbow grip is where you grip the pole in your elbow pit, so essentially your bicep is doing most of the work. It hurts like hell the first time you try it, but like everything else it gets easier and less painful with practice -
Can’t wait to try Kyodan!! I normally buy Lululemon but I find their quality has been lacking recently yet their prices remain the same

Thanks guys!! I have a doctor’s appointment next week. I’m pretty sure it’s a hernia. It only hurts if I touch it or lift anything.
Unfortunately I’m supposed to be entering my first competition in six weeks so….poop.
And yeah, we polers are a dramatic bunch!! Haha -
I love the elbow grip, I feel much more secure with it than my hands. I wish I was better at split grip moves

I agree with luvlee on using dishsoap on the pole AND your hands! I haven't tried Dawn, I think what's important is that you use a no nonsense, regular concentrated dish detergent. So, nothing with moisturizers built in (i.e. Palmolive). You just want something that removes dirt and grease,
But yes, new chrome poles are soooo slippy and frustrating!! I found lightly coating the pole with iTac helped with hand grip moves (don't try a superman though. Just don't.)

My sewing machine is already set up to go since I had to make curtains recently.
What material would you recommend? Any tips? I've heard sewing with stretchy material can be tricky.

I'm right there with you! Someone suggested to me to skip using grip aids during practice and only clean your pole no more than once every five minutes. That way you can get used to dancing on a slightly slippery pole.
Also, make sure to only inlcude moves you are 100% comfortable in executing.
Good luck!!

For actual pole time I usually try to fit it in during my daughter's nap times. She just turned two so she generally naps for an hour and a half to two hours. If she gets to bed on time I will sometimes get a night time pole session, but if she puts up a fight I'm usually too exhausted!
Now, I started pole fitness when my daughter was 14 months but I swear I had a lot of strength just from carrying her around all the time. I would constantly be lifting her into the air, carrying her in my arms, spinning her around. I would even do lunges while raising her above my head.
She was like a home made medicine ball made of love and magic that became heavier as I grew stronger.
These days, she's close to 30lbs. Our grocery store is just under a 10 minute walk so these days I carry her (stroller won't work in snow and she hates being in it now) to the store and carry her back on my shoulders along with the groceries.
It's fucking exhausting! In a good way.
