Pole dance helps heal my depression like nothing else 🙂

Its so great to relate to one another, to know there’s others out there that have damn hard time with flexibility as well. It’s almost like the problem seeing slim models in media – we are bombarded with super flexi contortionist elite pole dancers and there’s so much pressure when our tricks look nothing alike.
I’ve been stretching a year and a half and have my right split but it comes and goes and is very painful to sit in, it’s quite an over stretch. But we must stay positive and keep stretching 🙂 we have to get there one day if were consistent and follow safe guidelines and never give up!

The studio I go to does not have a dress code. And I love it as it’s the only place where it’s completely normal and I feel comfortable to walk around in a crop top and booty shorts. Everyone should feel free to take what they want from pole. Looking around in my class and when we do solo performances there’s a range of dances from sexy and sensual to theatric to contempory. Everyone should be free to enjoy pole in their own unique way and the clothing comes with this.

I wouldn’t go to a studio that ‘forces’ any one perspective of pole (eg fitness only). let students decide what they want it to be.

    Hey girls
I take one 1hr ‘Advanced 2’ pole class each week plus I practice an extra 2 hours a week, then stretch for 2hours total per week. I like to fit in gym weights when I can but sometimes its hard to fit it in cause ill be sore/don’t want to be sore for next pole session. I would like to train more but feel like I’m already pushing it with my body’s limits.

Well the awesome thing is that you know, because you’ve done these moves before, that they are 100% achievable and you know your body can do them. It’s just a matter of practice now and don’t worry it happens to all of us! Ive had that with quite a few moves but they eventually come back with dedication and practice. Good luck 😀

Thanks so much for all of your opinions girls! You are all completely right, it depends on the individual relationship. I've decided that I wont be inviting him, just because I do feel so uncomfortable with him seeing my outfit and style of dance (my personal style of pole dance is very sultry and sexy, I just cant help it, its how I love to pole). I just told him a white lie, that only females are aloud in the studio, so that he doesn't get offended.

I have a pole at home so I will set it up and show him some of the tricks I'll be doing (whilst wearing denim shorts hehe), and leave the dance element out of it.

I'm very close with my mum and have always shown her my pole dancing, even though she's quite conservative, but that's just the relationship we have. We are more like girl friends than mother and daughter.

I love that many of you have close open relationships with your family.

Thanks for sharing your advice and lovely stories <3

My legs just want to bend also, sometimes I think maybe is it more a mental thing that’s stopping me or physical??? Ugh this variation of an invert has been my toughest move to master yet! Will keep working on it.

I hate the negativity and ‘sluttiness’ that people associate with pole. It really does hurt when it’s about something youre so passionate about and want to tell the world about. All polers know where you are coming from and can definitely relate!
