Sorry hun – all went abit pear-shaped this weekend. Will try sort it out for you over the next couple of days and see about how much it would cost me, etc. If you get any other offers, just let me know – don’t wait for me to sort myself out https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I’m not too sure as all I’ve done is open them and watch a couple once. I’d want to recoup some of what I paid I would think as I haven’t used them and I think they cost me around £70. Give me an offer and I’ll let you know how much it would cost to send them and all that https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Are you in the US? I have a set that I would be happy to consider selling, but probably would cost too much with you being over there?

Here’s the YouTube vid for those of us who can’t see the Channel 7 stuff – it told me I wasn’t allowed to watch it. Don’t know if it just didn’t like me or whether that goes for anybody outside of Australia so I had a search round You Tube and somebody put this up about an hour ago https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Likewise, Alesia will be performing on Britain’s Got Talent this week (not sure what night) so everybody has to get their phones out and vote in the UK. I can’t believe she got through – she is performing on a 6m pole so hopefully she can pull off a brilliant performance https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Can’t wait to see it.

Tobias Mead last night did abit of pole in his dance act (only one lift), but was pretty good.

My tutor, Bex, does lots of them on this video (amongst a load of other stuff). Don’t know if it will help anyone, but it’s amazing to watch her anyway – she’s so strong!

You know, I would have loved to have had a place like this near me when I was a kid – I just wish I’d found pole sooner. It’s sometimes frustrating being 33 and knowing that I’m not as flexible as I would have been had I found this in my early 20s or something – everything is so much harder now! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

I just got this move – last night in fact with a split grip. It is as Veena is saying as the legs come down and towards the pole, the bum has to move in the opposite direction to counterbalance yourself otherwise you tip about. Was doing my very happy victory pole dance last night when I got this and held it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I had back problems all my life (curved spine, big boobs, bad posture) and pole has eliminated every single one of them. I carry myself much better, stand up straight and my back never hurts (and it has pretty muscles on it ). Whenever I stop poling, my back starts to hurt and it goes away when I pole again, it’s pretty incredible!

ME TOO!!! I used to wake up with trapped nerves, muscle problems and they wouldn’t go away for days. Since I started poling I haven’t had any of those problems at all! Apart from when I stopped for 2 or 3 months and then they slowly started coming back. It’s amazing how much it has helped me feel better.

I have been poling for about 1.5 years as well and I have probably put weight on according to the scales, but my clothes are looser and I have toned up dramatically. Prior to poling, I pretty much hadn’t done any exercise since forced PE at school and that was coming up to 20 years ago. I smoke unfortunately but trying to kick the habit. I don’t drink and have a pretty healthy attitude to food, etc. so have never had a problem with my weight, but I can safely say that I have never been happier with my body than I am now – the only thing I wish pole could do for me is grow my boobs! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

It is a brilliant form of exercise. It will improve your posture, the way you think about yourself, your confidence – or it has for me – along with all the other benefits of being fitter, looking better and having muscles and that. There is also such a good community around poling – whether that is here online or in classes. I would recommend you do a course and push yourself to go to one as when you first start out I feel it is important to have that support around you and it is good to get a group of friends who do the same as you that you can jam with on occasion.

Welcome to the world of Pole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

If it were up to me, the punishment for rapists would not simply be jail… they would have their manly parts removed with a dull knife… or maybe something serrated

I can’t get on that link from work – they ban everything here, but will have a look when I get home and let you know if I know them https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I just get raised eyebrows when I tell people that’s what I do for a hobby. I don’t quite know what they think we get up to! I don’t really care though to be honest – I’ve never been in better shape physically (or mentally I think) so all them people who go on about it being bad can bugger off! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_razz.gif

Not sure about last year on BGT – it is possible that the girls who ended up as backing dancers had actually auditioned?

I know that Jess Leanne Norris (from JLN in Bolton – I think – she’s only around 17/18 and she has her own pole studio, amazing talent) got through the first audition stage this year in Manchester, but not sure how much further she has got. I don’t think they take it seriously enough here to put anybody through to the live stages. Dannii Minogue really had those girls’ backs on that Australia one didn’t she? She understood how difficult it was and the men just ogled https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

A few pole peeps I know of here in the UK auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent. One of them got through the first round, but I don’t know how far she got, and the other was Adam J who got buzzed out by Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell, but kept in by Amanda Holden. They flashed Adam up at the beginning of last weeks show, but didn’t show anything more of him and there was a clip of a pole person (couldn’t tell who) in the ‘coming next time’ section at the end of the show so hopefully there will be something on this weekend.

It’s really good that pole is getting some sort of wider recognition now. They did have Deb Riley and a few other girls performing as ‘backing dancers’ on the last series of Britain’s Got Talent but the act they were performing with didn’t get through – "oh, let’s all mourn the loss of DJ Talent" (look him up on YouTube if you’ve not heard of him – a truly horrendous representation of a British male!

You’ll really enjoy it – difficult to begin with, but so much fun when you nail a move – and loads of fun in general. I have seen women of all shapes and sizes in my classes and nobody cares who or what you are because everybody is there to get fit and have a good time doing it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I didn’t have a pole for the first three months or so when I first started doing classes. I just went once a week and, initially that was enough for me as I hadn’t done any sort of exercise for years and years. I knew when I needed to get a pole as I felt safe enough to be practising moves done in class on my own and was finding it slightly frustrating that I couldn’t. The classes were a good way to see if I would get into it or not before I splashed out on my xpole.

Good luck with everything and tell your mum to give it a bash – it’s so much fun! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/bom.gif
