I ordered the Art of Pole series and it arrived within a week on the normal shipping option (to the UK). I haven’t had chance to go through them all properly, but they look really good for when you’re working on a certain move – how she explains things clearly, like the shoulder mount and that, when she’s halfway upside down is beyond me!

I just wish I had the bottle. I don’t even have the guts to strip in front of my husband never mind a room full of people so all credit to dancers and strippers, particularly those who work the pole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Just measured my hands – you have the same size hands as me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I have used both the 50mm and 45mm. I did find the 50mm difficult at first till I built up my grip strength. I’ve got to say that I find the 45mm easier on my hand and knee grips, but less so on the full leg grips and I like using it for learning new advanced moved, but you get used to the 50mm. It just takes time – keep practising.

I personally don’t worry about the shared hobby thing. My hubby has his xbox, I have pole. Although I don’t think I spend as much time when I’m at home checking out pole-related things on the internet, etc. but I think that as long as you make some time just to be together – whether you’re doing something or nothing, it doesn’t really matter. Try and have a movie night once a week when the kids are in bed where you both give up your passions and spend a couple of hours on the sofa watching a DVD or something – I find a sit and a cuddle works wonders for us. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I also know a few people who may be interested in this. Is it a specific look he is after? Is he wanting a dancer or a trickster or abit of both?

I’ve got to say, pole is probably my only vice(?) but my husband is fine with it. The only time it impacts on our relationship is if I want to do something on a weekend when he has his daughter over to stay. As we only have one car, if I want to go to a pole thing, him and his daughter are stranded in the house. Mind you, as their favourite passtimes are xbox and laptop, that isn’t too much of a problem for them.

I feel for you all who seem to have stroppy husband types. Men can feel threatened by the most daftest of things can’t they?

These are really good tips peeps. I spin doing this move as well and I think it’s a combination of my top hand and also not making sure my hips are tucked up properly now I have read everything you all have to say.

Thanks for the advice and great question https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I personally would develop a large interest in something else which is shown on the TV at the same time as Nascar https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif Then when the husband moans that he wants to watch Nascar, I would say "oh well, I’m happy not to watch my programme, but I’m just nipping out to do something else instead" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

I would take it down. My xpole has left a ring on the ceiling where it has been up – even though there is no proper damage, it might be worth inspecting yourself as well to make sure. Also, if you do have carpet, there will be a flat bit where the pole was so you might want to take it down before they turn up so you can vacuum that up and try unflatten it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Yes… although he tends to be more absorbed in his xbox than me!

Story of my life!!!!!! LOL What is it about xbox that is so addictive??? Is it the male pole equivalent? You know I’ve stood in front of my husband pretty much naked whilst he has been on the xbox and he has just looked up and said "alright love" then gone back to his game! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I’ve been with my husband for 12 – 13 years now and I still don’t feel comfortable dancing for him – am sure he was expecting something fantastic when he bought my pole for me last Christmas, but no. I will show him a new move every so often and he will stand there and look impressed for a reasonable amount of time and then return to Call of Duty! The joys of men! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif

March 30, 2010 at 3:07 pm in reply to: I’m still having trouble with my pole after it’s set up.

I had the clunky not wanting to spin problem and I put a piece of wood between the pole and the dome before tightening to the ceiling and it seems to have work – no more clunky https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I think my ceiling is abit wobbly so it just never sat flat, even though it looked like it was when I put it up. And the other thing I tended to do previously was concentrate so hard on getting the pole straight that I wasn’t taking into account the fact that my ceiling or floor might slope – when I put the wood up, I concentrated on getting the dome flat to the wood and then it seems to have worked.

Hope that makes sense and isn’t a load of old gobbledigook. Good luck https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
