I echo everything said by everybody else on this thread. I’m so sorry for your loss and hope you and your family find comfort in each other and your faith (whatever that may be). Much love and kisses from West Yorkshire, England xxxxx

MemberMarch 16, 2010 at 8:58 am in reply to: Deb Riley Masterclass (In case you dont read blogs)I so wish I could have gone to this, but I think it was at a level slightly too high for me. My tutor went and said it was great.
Debs is organising Pantera coming over to the UK soon as well so you should all keep an eye on her facebook profile if you’re interested in attending one of her classes. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif That’s another one I think I won’t be ready for but might be worth paying just to see her perform live.

I can still only aysha half-assedly under perfect conditions when Tibetan monks are facing south-southwest and chanting.
hahahahahahaaaaaa!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Me too!!!The Holly Drop amazes me and the shoulder mount flip thingy that Bex, my teacher, does. Oh and the twisted grip lift, and the caterpillar climb………………… the list could go on and on and on…

I started learning on a spinny pole which I think was quite good as it meant I was concentrating on the shape and holding myself up without having to think about the momentum thing to get myself spinning round a static pole as well (does that make sense?). https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

The picture that chemgoddess1 put on is how I learnt it as well. I just kept my bottom hand on until I was sure I had the grip and flip bit right because it hurts like a …… (well I don’t know what because it just ruddy hurts!) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif And it’s eeeeeeeeeevil as well because I learnt it, walked away to come back to it in a few weeks or something then had to relearn it all over again! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif
The thing with the thigh hold is ok as long as you trust your grip. The difficult part of that, I found, was bringing my body round so I was facing the pole rather than having it in my armpit. If you can do that and still be hanging from your thighs then you can walk your hands up the pole to get yourself in a position where you can reach round with the hand you want at the top.
(Does any of that waffle make sense????)

I know the theory, but that doesn’t mean I can do this move. My teacher tells me to stick my arse out – don’t have much control over my arse tho so I tend to not pull out enough on that elbow and then slide down the pole. I can do split grip tho which is quite odd https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

Me and my instructor were trying this last night but couldn’t work it out at all! Will keep trying tho https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I recommend a video called "Callanetics"
God! That’s a blast from the past! I remember my mother having that video from years ago (probably in the 80s some time). Isn’t that small movements? I might have to try and dig that one out – see if mum still has it.On the belly front, I used to have a really flat belly around 19/20 but that’s over 10 years ago now and I’m fine with the top part of my belly, it’s just the bottom belly that won’t go flat again. Not so much a problem when I’m standing up, but when you sit down it decides it wants to say hello over the top of my jeans. Think it’s a problem for loads of women and mine gets worse depending on the time of the month as well. I’ve never worked out how to get rid of it.

Brilliant article – good to see the UK mentioned as well – Adam is taking part in the first round of auditions at Britain’s Got Talent tonight representing for the male pole dancers of this world – hope you all keep your fingers crossed for him https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
My only complaint?
A flagpole requires intense midsection/core muscles and is difficult for most women to do.
PAH!

That sounds like a good idea https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Although I might take the opportunity whilst it is down to unscrew everything and re-tighten. Just got to sort out the clunking noise on spin before I can have another go on it. I am thinking if I concentrate on getting the dome flat to the ceiling, rather than getting the pole straight, then that should help matters – fingers crossed anyway! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

MemberFebruary 8, 2010 at 5:07 pm in reply to: xpole?!?!?! what is wrong with you dear xpole?Mine is clunking at the moment as I have taken it down and am trying to reinstall. My ceiling isn’t level so when I have the pole straight, I go to tighten it and one side of the dome is flush to the ceiling, but the other side isn’t, so I tighten it more so that there aren’t any gaps at all round the dome, but then I think I have probably over-tightened it! – how can I solve the problem? I have taken it down and put it up about 10 times now and just can’t work out how to stop the clunkiness. Damn these cock-eyed old houses!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif
It was fine before so I must have got it right previously, although I do have marks in the ceiling where the dome was.

I took my pole down for the first time in ages before Christmas. It came down ok, although I didn’t unscrew each segment but now I can’t get it to go back up properly again, so I say don’t do it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
It has left a big dint in my ceiling too where it was previously and that might be because I’d not moved it in ages?

I emailed x pole about this and got a reply from Stacey Pope here in the Uk who told me that, no they wouldn’t sell the adaptor and pole bits separately to the dome and base as I wanted to do the same. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I don’t think we should have to fork out for a full new pole when we already have some of the bits.

That’s the one!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif Couldn’t get it to copy and paste myself so thank you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
My friend described how she did it and it sounded like it should be easy, but nooooooooooooooo!!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
She did go to circus school in Belarus tho so I think they are particularly bendy in Russia aren’t they? Lots of amazing gymnasts and bendy people in Cirque du Soleil who originated in Russia. She looks so serene when she does it as well doesn’t she? I’d be all grimace -y and red!
