Alesia was at the Worlds last year in Jamaica – I can’t remember what she was placed, but she is mind-blowingly bendy. Think she has a move named after her as well – it’s on wikipole – looks like she had the same costume on at the Worlds as she was wearing at Deb’s Pole Academy opening. I can’t get it to post a link, but it’s under Alesia https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
A friend of mine was at the launch (gutted I couldnt’ go!) and she was saying she is just abnormally bendy – a la Felix https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I learnt it in a similar manner to MilienElayne. It took me a while to get the extended butterfly (and I still have moments sometimes where I don’t trust my grip), but I always go into butterfly in this manner.

Did you sell it? And if not, would you be willing to post it to the UK (for a price of course)?
Really want this one.

do they make a tripod for flip? That would help as well.
They do make a little bendy one that you screw into the bottom of it as hubby got me one for Christmas https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Sabrina – is all the fancy film effect stuff on your video done with the Flip software or something else?

Hi there
I got a Flip Ultra for Christmas and I’m having the same problem – I think I would have to put mine halfway up the road to get the full view of the pole on it. I turned mine on it’s side to film me which helped a little, but now I can’t work out how to turn the picture back round on my computer! lolI think I must be abit of a techy-phobe because the software seems quite laboured. Do people have any tips as to the best way to use the camera? i.e. should I film a whole hour and then try to edit it or should I film little bits at a time?

I’ve been poling now for about a year and have had a month or so break over Christmas and New Year. I went to my first class last night and this morning, my arms are completely broken – and I know that tomorrow it will be worse (it’s always the day after the day after for some reason! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif )
When I first started though I was the same as you couldn’t even change gear for the first few lessons. You will get used to it tho – it’s like nothing I’ve done before as far as muscle use goes (mind you, I’m not big on exercise and think it must have been at least 10 years since I’d done any exercise before I started pole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif )
It is frustrating but it will get easier and it will get better. Just keep working on the moves you are trying now and keep trying to climb and then one day things will start to click. It took me about five or six lessons to start understanding what I should be doing.
Maybe rather than trying spins, etc. you can just have a bit of a dance around, look on YouTube and see if you can get any tips for floorwork and just get used to the pole. There are so many polers on YouTube, you’re bound to get some inspiration there.

Pole is really difficult to begin with (or I found it hard). I couldn’t even lift myself when I first started and I think if I hadn’t paid for a 6 week course, I would have given up and I’m so glad I didn’t.
When I started, the teachers I went to just did basic things every week. So we would start by doing pole sits – or pulling ourselves up into that position and then sliding back down again pretty quickly! lol The first spin we learnt was the chair spin, followed by the front hook and the attitude one (don’t know the name – where you hook your leg or ankle on the pole and put your other leg behind you in the attitude position). Also climbing – that’s where I built up the most strength, just trying to climb. And finally we would just hold ourselves up to the side of the pole and seeing how long we could hold ourselves up with our arms.
Stick with it tho – it’s worth it. It’s frustrating and challenging and rewarding and exciting all in equal measures. Love it!

She takes her top off?! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
Think my problem was the same as yours, I was trying to watch what moves she was doing and wasn’t concentrating on the game https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Just made me giggle https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif there’s even some proper moves in there! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

llucas1977 – I haven’t got any videos up there at the moment, but Santa did bring me a Flip for Christmas, so once I’ve worked out how to use it properly, I might put something on there. Although, I might just put it on here initially so that my rubbishness is not available for the whole world to see https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

MemberJanuary 12, 2010 at 9:48 am in reply to: STUPID GIRL I AM – I THINK I WANT MY 45mm back! You will get used to the new one, it’ll just take time and I think it’s swings and roundabouts as everybody else says. The 50mm is better for leg grip and arm pit grip I think and the 45mm better on your hands so it just depends on what you’re doing. I want to try a 45mm but have learnt on the 50mm and as that is what most studios have, it’s good to know what I can do on it.
Also, when you enter competitions and win them, that will be on the 50mm I would think so you’ll be even better than you would be had you still had your 45mm https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

MemberJanuary 8, 2010 at 2:29 pm in reply to: Woman Sues Crunch Fitness For Pole Dancing InjuryI am not an instructor but I have the ability to observe a move, break it down and teach it to someone else even if I cannot execute the move myself. There are a lot of moves I cannot do due to range of motion and flexibility.
Would you have already tried that move to realise you can’t execute it? I’m talking about instructors who may have seen a picture of a move, but have never seen it done or never attempted to do it. Take, for example the RG into Pretzel – the instructor did not know what that was – I know it’s an advanced spin, but surely you would know that one…..
Maybe I’m giving them too much of a hard time but I like people to know what they are doing before they try to teach it to me https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
