Good job! It took me FOREVER to get my climb. I was inverting, and doing a scorpio and gemini before I could finally climb lol.

I had the same problem when I first started poling. I have a VERY fast metabolism and dropped weight fast when I started dancing. I found drinking muscle milk, taking vitamins, and eating small frequent meals helped me to not lose anymore weight. Eventually ny body got used to it, and now I look a lot bigger because of all the muscle I’ve gained.

I have a few times, but never see anything. I found the Pacific Pole Championship….. I’m thinking of entering that??

Yes, I’m pretty sure the pieces screw together.

Yeah, I called and found a chiropractor but I have to get a referral from my primary doctor, so it’ll be about 2 weeks till I can get in 🙁

I’m thinking it could be my sciatic nerve? But the pain is never “searing” or “stabbing” but more a very deep, ache that when stretched can become slightly sharp feeling. Everything else I read about sciatic sounds spot on besides the “type” of pain. Also a note, anti inflammatories and muscle relaxers have no effect. Does anyone think a chiropractor would be a good route?

It is just on the one side. Its hard to explain the pain, but it’s more in the joint itself rather than muscle pain? It does hurt at all when I’m walking, running, jumping… only when I bend over with straight legs, or stretch. My lower back, same side, just to the side of my spine hurts during stretching and bending as well. Could be unrelated, but thought id mention it. Thanks for the advice!

Everyone learns at a different pace. I have a friend who has only been dancing a few months and can do the knee hold perfectly! It took me 2 years on and off to get that, yet I showed her once, and she nailed it! I could invert and do a Scorpio and Gemini way before I could climb the pole. We all have strengths and weakness, but with practice and a positive attitude, I believe I can eventually master any move I want to. I know I pole WAY too often. I dance 6-7 days a week, and usually practice an hour at home each day as well. Too much practice can set you back too. Just go at your own pace, treat your body well, and stop once in a while to toot your own horn for all the things you HAVE mastered 🙂

WOW Lyme! That's exactly how I am feeling right now. I've been seriously considering a break as well. I feel like my body needs a little time to rest and recoup, and I have been wanting to focus on stretching and getting my flexibility amazing again, but I am always distracted by the pole, and don't take the time I should to focus on flexibility. I KNOW I'll never take a break and not come back, I love poling wayyy too much, but maybe it's time to listen to the voice in my head and take some time for other things….

    THANK YOU!

Thanks Platniumani! I've already started focusing more on combos, and I've had major improvements in that area. Sometimes I fail to recognize how many moves, variations, and combos I CAN do! When I stop and think about how far I've come, I feel really acomplished. Thanks for the inspiration 🙂
