Haha! No, I didn't take offense to that at all! That reminds me to work on my no-hands cradle though. 😛 I was working on my Iron X today and I was watching my videos. I just kept noticing that little pooch and it's annoying. I wish I could get rid of it.

I have a friend who works for an airline. He explained the buddy pass to me in the past. It's not exactly what you describe. Usually you can only have one person be your "buddy". You have to provide proof that this person has lived in your residence for a consecutive six month period before you are allowed to use the buddy pass. However, he works for Delta so perhaps it's different for other airlines.

I tried this move for the first time today. It is the only time I've actually fallen since I started pole dancing and had I not been strong enough, I literally would have faceplanted into the pole. This move is deceptive. It looks to be simple but I think it takes an incredible amount of balance to pull it off. I think it's all about strong abs to stabilize your body and hold center. I don't know if there's any particular trick to it. But I could be wrong….

I'm sorry to hear that 🙁  Maybe I can offer my opinion? It seems like that amount of pole should not tire you out to that extreme. I probably pole too much (on average 1-2 hrs/day in total, in intervals) and I'm 27. I do get sore occasionally if I do too much of a certain thing in a row. It is strength training and can wear on you. Perhaps you should see your family physician to see if you are having hypothyroid, anemia, or some other condition that is causing you such extreme fatigue.

I love wearing shoes!!! However, they can be a pain for certain things. I cannot wear them whilst doing a handspring/cartwheel or shoulder mounting (I can't SM deadlift yet). There's something awkward about swinging my leg with the shoes on. Maybe I just need more practice.

My hips, at their widest point, are 39 inches.

I might be interested in the turquoise checked shorts. I normally wear a size small. I have a 26 inch waist but a big ass, generally a size 4-6 depending on the brand. Do you think they'd fit me?

I hadn't seen this video before. She is really awesome! That one armed knee tuck spin and one armed embrace, wowza. Like everyone else said, it's really about how fit you are beforehand and how much time you can spend practicing. I think over time, you develop your own style that is uniquely yours. It plays off your strengths and your experiences.  I would say my style is sexy strength. I'm not very flexible but I'm strong and I'm good with booty work and body rolls .

I started poling at 27 years old and I've been doing it for just about nine months now. I previously had no dance experience, ever. lol. I can do probably 80% of what she does in the video but I've been very dedicated to practicing both at home and at the gym. Gaining flexibility will always be my challenge.

As a side note, flow really makes the dance. That's not something I focused on at the beginning, I just wanted to dive headfirst into tricks. I would bet the woman in this video has/had an exotic dance background. I've found my flow has gotten exponentially better since I started exotic dancing. Even though really none of my co-workers utilize the pole for tricks, I've learned so much from them. So I think just going to a strip club to observe can lend something.

I don't know anything about Peek A Boo poles but it sounds like stick with lil mynx or x-pole in terms of safety. However, to answer your initial question about stud finding…I'm not sure what type of place you live but some newer condos/apartments have metal studs. When I tried to put up my pole the stud finder was lighting up like the 4th of July.

Because it's actually a metal roof truss and it runs all the way along the ceiling either one way or the other. So that might be a problem. You have to use a special toggle bolt up through the metal and it latches on top, unlike a screw you just screw into the wood beam.

Blast! My plan is foiled! Oh well, we’ll see what happens when I unpack the new pole tomorrow

Haha! This is fun. I remember ridiculous details about things. Like I'll meet someone and we'll talk. I might see them six months later but I remember what college their kid is going to or their favorite wine or whatever. I also know random, stupid trivia.

I'm a speed reader. I can read a 300 pg book in about 2 hours. You could argue that is an awesome talent, but I can only do it with fictional novels and the like. I can't do it with textbooks. Boo! 🙁

Wow. What a rude woman. I can't imagine actually posting on someone's facebook that they were fat. Pole dancers come in all shapes and sizes, just like everyone else. I know really tall polers, I know really short polers. I know really voluptous polers, I know very thin polers. It sounds like perhaps she might be jealous if she was willing to escalate things like that. Obviously you are physically active and are happy, that's what matters.

I am not an instructor. I'd like to do it someday but I don't have any time to commit to it right now. Anyhow, from personal experience, I'd like to offer things I wished would have been done differently. I think it's a good idea to have a structured class. I had an instructor who would just be like "oh, so what do you guys want to do today?"

It's hard to set goals when everything is fly by the seat of your pants. Also, I'm not sure what level you're going to be teaching, but make sure you go slow if it's a beginner class. I've seen some instructors get crazy and push students to do things that probably shouldn't be done in such a timeframe. For instance, I was inverting six weeks into starting pole. I shouldn't have been but I didn't know better at the time.

And make sure you have a variety of good tunes picked out. Not everyone likes one genre of music so make sure the playlist is varied. 🙂

I agree dustbunny! I’m not even capable of twisted grip because it requires such shoulder flexibility.
