Do LOTS of squats!! Last year when i started poling w/in three mths i started getting compliments and questions on how my legs and thieghs looked so great. The other thing i did was lay on the floor with the pole between ur legs. Extend one leg and put the bottom of your foot on the pole with your knee almost to your chest. Push off of the pole and bring your straightened out leg all the way up and over your head. You can use your hands to balance yourself at first, Do as much as you can, and switch legs. Those are the two things that got my butt and legs in really great shape.

I dont need them per say for spins, so i just leave them off. They do take some getting use too tho. I havent tried the ones w/o tack tho. So i can't really give a good comparison

MemberMarch 21, 2011 at 10:15 pm in reply to: Aysha…split grip vs. forearm grip vs. elbow gripFor some reason…I can do great (maybe bc i am short) at the elbow grip. Im not a fan of the forearm grip..and just now barley being able to get the split grip…(took me a extra 4mths of straight poling to do so) I agree i think it all depends on your body shape/size on what feels more secure

Also, i do want to note here. You don’t have to completely be off your pole everyday. Just if you work one muscle group say doing tricks, don’t do it the next day..work on spins, or floor work ect.

I want to pipe in here lol. I don’t recommend doing any sort of TG..Why you might ask. You see i can do everything on here comfortably that you guys should be able to do before the TG. I tried the TG once..just ONCE, no jumping ect. Well i’ve been out of poling for now three weeks. It wasn’t my shoulder, nor my wrist that I hurt. It was my elbow. I at this point can’t really do any simple spins w/o my elbow giving me pain.. Please i can not over emphasize this enough. Don’t rush into this move, or you will be sorry (like i REALLY am i miss my pole!)

What helped me get use to the grip for this move, and improve my grip. Do a handstand against the pole, if you can. Grip your legs around it (while in the handstand) and cross your ankles..when you feel you are secure start trying to lift up. If you need to grab the pole with one hand (around your glutes area) and help yourself up a bit, go for it. I did this move over and over again until i finally got my CAR. Good Luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

I still think the xpert is great. I have had many issues at first with the shifting xjoints..but once i realized i had to, what i thought was over tighten them, I have never had a problem since. Its just you have to make SURE to get those extra tight.
