My first Spin : Front Hook
First Invert: the day i got my invert i let go into the inverted crusifix lol -
I am all for crash mats, That being said, the studio i attend does not have them. Then have yoga mats which are maybe 1/4 inch thick..and hard concrete floors with tile on top of that. The first day i was there, i watched a girl who was not ready for a pencil mount slide down right on her head..Im still paranoid to try this move, for this very reason. Im sure i can do it..but the fear is there, and i will not try any move that im not comfortable with w/o a mat.
Granted, those of us who are use to getting on the pole at home tend to be a little more cautious (atleast in my class) bc we are use to not having someone there. But i recommend using a crash mat 1000% and a spotter if available.
Right now i have a 2 inch yoga mat on top of kindermats that i velcro’d together around my pole..its nice and cushiony (is that a word?) if (knock on wood) i shall ever fall..I dont count on it bc i know the fall will hurt regardless if there is a big mat there or not..best to know the escape route in any move you are practicing lol
Once i got stuck upside down at the top of my pole (when i first started inverting) thankfully i figuared out the escape route or i would have fell right on my head haha

usually, i only bruise one or two good times then my skin gets use to it and my muscles learn how to hold whatever im doing better so that i dont bruise like that
-
yes STOP what ur doing…take it down tighten it more and make sure the area where the screws at the bottom where you tighten them after you set it up are on the area where its flat and not the grove part.. I had issues with my xjoints where I had to pry it apart bc they started to misalign with the holes…big headache you do NOT want lol.. hope this helps!

i agree..it sounds like your pole isn’t warm enough..It should be warm to the touch ..you’ll know if its warm enough. I also do spins, dancing around my pole and even take a wash cloth up and down my pole real fast to get the sweat ect off of it to warm it up.

megs is what alot of ppl call me (full name Megan) and was born in september of 82 lol

I was at the point where I rarely bruised anymore..but I had moved and it had been a good 3-4 weeks since I did any serious poling. And I got pushed way too hard between the 2 back to back nights. I’m gonna pole still but definetly will be taking extra caution
-
I don’t remember where I read it but I read somwhere that it burns avg around 250 calories during a 45 min workout..its so hard to determine though, bc everyone works out different and slower or faster

Lol.. there are only 3 lvls…not quite sure what level 3 has…I don’t agree with how fast they teach..the first night I was there a lvl 1 girl wanted to do a pencil mount and she got it great and thank god she was close to the ground bc she slid right down w/o mats. I thankfully know my body limits…but to say the least its not a place for newbies. They were trying to get my friend to do a invert and she had never touched a pole I told her don’t go..come to my house and I will work on strength training to get to that point so that she doesn’t get hurt..
