Wow, thought I was the only one!
I can't watch videos effortlessly either. They either refuse to load at all, or they do and they're constantly stop-starting on me. I don't have any other problems with any other website, and am on cable internet, which is the absolute fastest for my country.
To be honest, this is why I haven't already dived in and paid for Veena's lessons. Everyone on here rants about them, but I don't see the point of paying that amount of money if I can't even watch the video all the way through.

sure!!
please excuse the chipped nailpolish! i've been too lazy today to remove it.
… okay I couldn't work out how to upload photos to the forum, wayyyy too complicated for me, so I've added an album in my photos!
Here is the link: https://www.studioveena.com/photos/view_album/4efda446-4278-49c3-8082-316a0ac37250
If you need any other photos just let me know!

I know this is a little late, but I thought I'd share my experience anyway, just in case anybody else needs any more information on it.
I referee football (soccer), and sustained a groin injury a few years ago from running the lines and turning too sharply. Verrrry painful.
I would highly recommend seeing a physio if you can. I kept trying to deal with it, but eventually ended up making the injury worse. It could be a tendon issue, or a muscle issue. I needed quite a bit of rehab on mine, mainly just deep tissue massages and plenty of heat treatments. But, if you can't afford to see a physio frequently, I would recommend going to an initial consult, and they can teach you exercises to strengthen the damaged muscles and stop it from happening again!
How did you go at the dr's amazonlady?

I like this idea. It'll be so interesting to see everyone's different interpretations!
I've been eagerly awaiting the next challenge so I can … well, challenge myself!
I'm only new to poling, but would love any feedback. When are the monthly challenges usually released? and can we do old challenges?
Sorry, I totally don't mean to hijack the thread!

For anyone interested, I can upload pics of my 40mm chrome xpert. What do you want the pictures to show?

SO hapy about this!
I was looking to buy a pole for ages, and was going to get the 45mm. The studio I'm at uses 37mm brass spinning, so I was a bit worried about switching to both a larger size, and a different metal.
But then the 40mm xpert comes out! YAY! I ordered it a few weeks ago, and after a bit of a struggle to get it up (why are joists so hard to find!?) it's now up and I'm IN LOVE with it!
Thanks xpole!

I don't really agree with that though, polefitness.
That analogy works for the secretary, but that's because that is a specific job.
I have plenty of friends who are singers, and don't necessarily make a living off it. Same way I'm a guitarist. I don't really perform (no time) and I'm not in a band or anything, but I do play the guitar. Therefore, I'm a guitarist.
This has been interesting to read, because like OP, I'm only new to poling but was wondering if I was jumping the gun by calling myself a "pole dancer". I think when you're passionate about it. If you've taken it up as a serious hobby or whatever.
I think especially because "dancer" is just the noun of the verb. So, I am a dancer because I dance.
I don't think there needs to be a monetary aspect taken into consideration at all, or how many tricks you can do.

Ahh thanks so much guys!!
Empyrean – I thought that was the case, that it shouldn't just be 'roughly under' the dome.
Unforutnately I have really old plaster ceilings so stud finders don't work on it!
Luckily for me though my dad's going to come over tomorrow and help me find them. SO thankful he's a carpenter!
Thanks so much for that tip sensualscimitar! I think I'm definitely going to do that! Hopefully my dad brings his spirit level over tomorrow too and we can make sure it's straight!
Gosh, I'm so impatient, I just want it up already!

oh wow Polecat, i've never even heard of an okapi before!!
What a funny looking animal!!
Like Empyrean said, pressure does not cause stretch marks, as it's a result from elasticity in your skin being lost or something.
I'm only 19, and don't have any (that I know of) so I don't really have any advice unfortunately – but maybe try some skin firming creams or taking supplements for your skin's elasticity? That could maybe help? I don't have stretch marks, but I have all these hideous, unsightly scars on my thighs from battling depression as a (very young) teenager. I used to be quite ashamed / embarrased of them, and was reluctant to switch to pole shorts in my first few lessons. But I gathered up the courage and did it anyway, and nobody has said anything yet.
I know it's easier said than done, but I wouldn't worry too much about stretch marks. It's soooo common with women, and if you're hanging upside down on a pole or doing awesome spins, the last thing anyone is going to pull you up for is something that is completely natural that you can't change.
My scars on the other hand…not the result of nature and quite ugly. I wish all those 'scar erasing' creams worked! Pole has taught me to feel so much better about myself though, so I try not to focus on them when dancing.

MemberNovember 25, 2011 at 11:14 pm in reply to: How do you prepare students to spinning? What about the first spin you teach? That is how I learnt it at the studio I go to –
closed front hook was our first spin, and we did lots of pole walks and body rolls and stuff. Over the next few lessons we did back hook and started working on fireman.
My studio placed a lot of emphasis on fireman, and making sure we used proper technique, so we spent quite a bit of time on it, but definitely worth it because now I can do it effortlessly.
A lesson or two after we progressed to open forward hook, but kept working on the fireman and backwards hook.

Short answer – I don't really.
I'm one of those 'can't even get groceries without makeup on' type of people.
I was never allowed to wear makeup in high school (strict Catholic girl school), but did the odd swipe of mascara and dash of concealer. I only ever really wear a 'natural' look, although sometimes I will dress it up a bit with lippie or eyeshadow, but really I don't ever leave the house without it on.
When I do, I feel incredibly self conscious and somehow work myself up into a panic attack.
I wish I had the confidence (or the beauty!) to go without makeup, and it is something I'd like to work on, but for now I think I need to take it slow and tackle my self-esteem in regards to my body issues (which pole has helped heapppps with!)
Sorry, this was probably completely unhelpful. I wish I could offer up some advice!
