I went through several periods over the years with SSRIs.  MOST of the time I did not gain weight, but actually stayed at a dangerously low weight.  I do have a feeling THAT had to do with the fact that when I'm down I feel like eating is a total chore.  The last stint I spent on them, paxil in particular abour 4 years ago I gained the most weight I ever have in my life.  I'm not sure what caused it completely but I suddenly swung into wanting high calorie foods all the time and I indulged myself in every single craving.  I have never had such cravings before and even when I'm not depressed I've never seen food as a comfort, so it was a very strange experience.  I was changed off of SSRIs right after that because several new doctors agreed that I had been misdiagnosed for years and changed my diagnoses and medications.

The new meds made me feel HORRIBLE in my tummy for a few years and I could never figure out how to get it under control.  It's taken years to figure out through trial and error but I've gradually dropped my dosage (I started at 700 mg and I'm now down to 250 ), made sure to always include at least 100 crunches in my workout every day, made sure I was getting enough fiber through supplements and changed the fruit I was eating.  I've always made sure to eat a lot of fresh fruit every day like blueberries, strawberries, grapes… but I have never felt as great as when I started eating apples.  I do not know why apples seem to make me feel better than other fruit but they do somehow; maybe more fiber content?  Since I got my stomach problems sorted out I dropped about 3 kilos for my average weight.

I know what I'm on (anti psychotic) and SSRIs are different but I wanted to share this with you; keeping experimenting like crazy until you find some improvement.  I might take a long time but you'll be surprised with what you may find works for you.  I wish you the best!

I'm an ESL teacher living in Tokyo.  It's really not my favorite thing to do but it pays the bills.  I came to Japan wanting to be a translator since my major in college was Japanese but I've just never had the courage to put myself "out there," for jobs…  I really wanted to localize video games into English but that usually requires living in said country and I love Tokyo too much to leave.  Currently I have a side internship in music management; I work for the Japan side of a promoter specifically interesting in "finding" Asian artists to promote them.  Our current main struggle is promoting a Chinese artist in Japan, which given current Sino-Japanese political relations, is daunting at best.  But I LOVE the challenge.  If I decided not to go the translation route I would LOVE to be a military historian; it's a dying career path but I feel it's very important to keep alive to better understand why countries go to war.  That or some kind of womens' rights worker.  I traveled around Asia a bit and I'm very concerned about human trafficking.  I think one of those career paths would be very fulfilling.  If I ever get around to getting the Master's education required to do so.

    le sigh.

Saphyre- Thanks SO much for the reply!  My pole's starting to break in -a bit-.  Not a lot of rubbing alcohol available here in Japan for under 8.00 bucks a bottle so I tried glass cleaner which works pretty well.  I'll have to try the hairspray!  I'm practicing grip for my first ever pole show and I have to grip and pop a ballerina on top of a pole for 2 minuted while two girls dance below me so I'm getting antsy about my grip. o_o  Oh!  My username comes from my youtube name!  http://youtube.com/milkjamjuice  😀

I'm having this same problem.  I just installed my X-pert chrome in my room today.  My school also uses chrome poles which I'm used to and have no problem gripping barehanded but this new pole, I'm slipping right off of the thing!  I can't even hold it to do a strength exercise.  I guess is just needs more wear?  Anyway, I'm gonna pick up some grip enhancer when I go to my school tomorrow but I hate to always have to rely on that stuff..
