The first move that wow’ed me (and still sorta does) was the catapillar climb. I saw it at the end of my s factor intro when the teachers did the demo, and in the dark room with the slow sultry music i was in awe, i might have drooled alittle. halfway through my intro i kept saying…this isn’t for me (all this sexy hip grinding, i was mortified)…after that demo my tune changed completely. I even asked the instructor how long before i can do that and pretty much ran to the front to sign up for level 1. so technically i am pole dancing b/c of that caterpillar climb, which i still can’t do…but i am slowly getting there. that shit HURTS my legs like a MOFO…not sure how you chicks (and guys) do that but holy crap i was bruised for two weeks just practicing.

I also love the slow fluid movement of a slow spin into a climb…for some reason it’s just amazes me. Jenyne and Felix rock that move! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

I was thinking either Slim Shady b/c it’s a slim pole and sometimes it’s slippery. Or Tiny Tim, since its slim and short and doesn’t allow me to climb without hitting my head on the ceiling. I have to keep thinking https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I feel like it deserves a more original name LOL

Can I open up this convo since I am a late bloomer to SV….but I need help naming my pole.

She or he is very slippery and frustrates the sh*t outta me most of the time. she/he is short, too short for me to climb, and very cold LOL. I once loved her/him. I am starting to fall out of love and might end up replacing her/him at some point. but either way, IT needs a name….any ideas????

thanks. I have a canon and the video is good on it, but i just need to find a space to prop it up on. i figured some people did that but the quality looks so good on alot of these videos that i wondered if you all might use fancier stuff. i will try to record something soon, i could use some constructive criticism. in class i feel like they cheer us on even when we are doing it wrong. hate that! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mad.gif

Oh good because I don’t have one and I hate to buy something I don’t need. My boyfriend wanted a flip and he never ended up getting one. Maybe I will get one and share with him, I only need it for practice. It’s probably the most efficient since you just plug and upload right?

So this may sound naive, but do you just prop it up on a table or something while you are practicing? I will try the iMovie, I honestly never messed with it, my laptop is new and I never find the time to play around with the apps.

I thought of getting a flip camera. how do you like yours?

    Thanks for the response https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Sorry I am late to this post and new to the forums, and as a newbie I love the idea of this entire site and how it allows everyone to connect and share ideas.

One thing I looked for and would love to see and please let me know if this already exists since I am new and may still overlook some features: I would love to see a listing of all the users and their residences. I am from NY and even though I want to connect with everyone I do think it’s nice to see how many users are in your area. The only way I can see who’s who is if I click their name on a video and scroll through friends or forums. Not sure if this makes sense, just throwing thoughts out there.

Ok well I am signed up for the pole play and a march masters workshop at body and pole. I spoke with lian before i signed up and she was really sweet, it made me want to take her class…which i haven’t done yet. for now i am sticking to nypd (in white plains) and s factor and body and pole, if i find more time i would like to try more studios.

i will try the plow move and also i was able to do the chopper walking into it with the momentum it helped. i videoed a short clip and it looked ok i just need to work on holding it (which i guess is where all that core strength comes into play!). thanks for all of your help I will keep you posted on my progress https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

Oh ok, I love that stretch, I didn’t know it had a name! I will do those if you think it will help. Thanks for the info on the skirt I might have to invest in one soon!

Are there many other studios in the city? I looked into crunch but it might be difficult for me to get there often. How do you like the pole classes there?

Wow that was fast and a wonderful response, I think you answered everything I wanted! My pole is stainless I think (I have to go read the paper it came with) I purchased it through S factor, it’s the "willow" pole, so I also heard that it’s harder to grab with the thighs since it’s slimmer. I will try what you said about the sandpaper. thanks.

So not to sound foolish, but what is a plow? As you know at S factor the progress is very slow, so we haven’t even discussed anything past the snake (so impatient!!). Is that where you push up from the arms and butt and kind of snake your way up the pole?? I can’t do that, I tried and I just fall https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

And of course everything hurts but I am willing to suffer through that pain. By the way I was at the pole super star event on friday and you were awesome, my S classmates were loving your leg ribbons and your moves! We were all in awe…!

I just signed up for the open pole play on feb 28. I also take classes on Thursday nights with Ilov (she recently took over for Sam). I’ve seen Tracee on occassion and knew she looked familiar. I really like Ilov she makes class so much fun, you should drop in! You can teach us new tricks! LOL

Do you have experience with aerial acrobats? I can’t wait to start, I did the intro and I loved it, and I took flying trapeze at another school which I loved. Oh, and by the way I love that feather skirt in your pics you must tell me where to find cute stuff like that!!

Talk to you soon. I will look for you on FB.
