I have a DIY grip enhancer for legs and body tutorial on my blog! If you’ve used , it’s like that. I don’t use alcohol as a preservative anymore. Recently I’ve been mixing in in a really small bottle and dumping any left over out after a few days so I don’t need to use a preservative. Another preservative that can work is something called Germall + at about .5% of solution, but you have to order it. So I just prefer to make a tiny batch and throw out the extras every few days.

Oh I’ve also wd40 the spinning part. No change.

My X-stage pole does the same thing. If I really launch into it, it spins for maybe 3-4 rotations then quickly stops. I’ve replaced the part that contains the ball bearings as was suggested by x pole, but it didn’t change anything. Now it maybe spins one rotation more, I wouldn’t call that fixed.
And yes, it feels like it SHOULD spin well, until you actually get on it.

You should post a video of the final combo! I would love to see how it turned out.

I’m 4’10” with tiny hands and I started off on 50mm. I was also not taught gun grip at first. This combination caused a lot of wrist grief for me. On a 50 mm, my hands wrapped barely half way around the pole. With this shit grip, on the top hand, it meant I was relying on pinching strength to stay on UNLESS I bring my wrist off neutral and “overgrip” the top hand. Over gripping the top hand caused a tendency to rotate around the pole, and as a result, this hurt my bottom wrist as well since I was not using a gun grip at the time. It was a very shitty time for both my wrists.
It was on the recommendation from a sports therapists that I switched to a smaller pole size and learn to gun grip my bottom hand. Lots of issues cleared up after that.
I actually had an instructor from the first studio I went to tell me that I was having trouble because I wasn’t strong enough and that meant I should keep practicing on thicker poles until I get stronger. I’m so glad I stopped listening to her. She didn’t understand that my hands are so small that they LITERALLY CAN NOT hold the pole with a normal grip with out putting my wrists off neutral. The only way I can push/pull on a 500mm is with a CUP grip. Moving to a 45mm saved my wrists.

Recoveries usually take longer than expected. I totally understand about losing a lot of strength. I had clavicle surgery in January and a complication during the surgery meant I had to recover from a broken collarbone AND nerve damage. I just started to get back on the pole slowly now.
I wrote a blog post a few weeks back about what I did to keep sane during my time off: http://www.liveituppolefitness.com/pole-dance-recovering-injury/
Maybe it’ll give you some ideas on how to survive the pole drought. -
Veena is right ocourse! When they say tighten as much as you can with ONE hand, they mean it. The pole will warp if the pressure is too much, a warped pole clicks and doesn’t spin smoothly.

I dealt with this throughout the first year of poling. Nothing really fixed it until I started getting used to inverting. One thing that helps is to alternate inverting on both sides.
A great temporary fix is to go to a good massage therapist. My massage therapist was the one who told me I was noticeably tighter on one side and suggested I train both sides. When I first started poling there wasn’t as strong of a focus on training both sides to keep things even and that wreaked havoc with my body.Another thing is to make sure to stretch out really good after a pole session. And consider some self myofascial release with a ball.

I’ve tried the silicone sleeve before and I don’t like it. Yes, it’s sticky, but it’s too sticky. I wasn’t able to do smooth transitions, and it left a lot of horrible friction burn bruises on my shoulder and legs. But the worse thing is that it will get suddenly slick if I hit a patch of sweat. So, sticky sticky, SLIp, sudden super sticky skin ripping stop.
Not my cup of tea.

I'm a little bit looser after a hot epsom salt bath. Tennis ball massages also work wonders for me.

WTF, that video is just a blinking lights. Doesn't show the stage in action at all. Infact, I can barely see the pole itself.
