@ JelliCrew, I usually use a large bobby pin like a make shift needle to thread ribbons and cords through short channels. But for longer ones I use a bodkin (what Chemmy suggested).

I have that pooch too! And honestly I'm starting to think it'll never go away, so I'm all ears!

Thanks! Glad there are other crafty polers out there.

MemberDecember 9, 2012 at 12:16 pm in reply to: what style of dance best complements pole?I have two left feet and awkward arms, and everynon pole dance class has made me feel like a heel. This conversation is started to make me think I should suck it in and try dance classes again. Maybe pole has "fixed" my inability to control my extremities.

I used to have one of those mirrors that you hang on a door next to my pole, but it was too small to see anything. So now I just film my practices from my laptop and watch it the video instead. I much prefer to have a mirror big enough to see everything so I can adjust my moves while I pole. Mirrors and company is the best part of going to a studio to practice.
I keep having these daydreams that I'll walk into the pole room one day and see that my bf has installed wall to wall floor to ceiling mirror for me as a surprize. It hasn;t happened yet.

I made the shorts in the tutorial a while back. I plan on posting a tutorial once I figure out how to grade the pattern up and down to other sizes. Grading patterns is a pain in the bum.

Thanks! If you ever make make any of the projects I post, please be sure to take a pic and send it over.

LittleEngine, you are completely right about pushing yourself a little by little!
If you take a small step everyday, even if you fail, the fall is really small and you can get back up easily. And after a while, it adds up. If you where to throw caution to the wind, it's a lot scarier.
I still kind freeze if I have to freestyle in front of someone, so ti's not perfect. But I've come a long way. I started by posting videos here on studioveena and it was REALLY scary at first. But it gets easier everytime. I recently did my first competition and I was THIS CLOSE to beign sick with nerves back stage.I started shaking and thought about backign out, but I survived! And I know that means it'll be a little easier next time.

Congrats! Isn't it a great feeling?

Looks like torn skin on the shoulder to me…ouch! I"m not sure it's pretty enough to counter the scary/pain factor. Now if the drop of super gorgeous…no needs shoulder skin.

$470, so glad I dont; need to say how! Looks like lots of us have lives worth living. At the end of yoru life, it won't be the things you did that haunt you, it will be all the things you didn;t do.

I find a journal keeps me motivated too, Jasmin46. I kinda feel like I "owe it" an entry if I skip a practice. And I love the idea of having a place to put mental pole things, like blogs i read or elements I liked from the latest comp.
I want to get these journals out just in time for the new year. The big question: plain old black printing, or hot pink? 😛
