Climbing and inverting one handed is hard but she did it beautifully despite grip issues. The crowd really got behind her but she vanished off stage before she could really appreciate the applause she got. I love that more people are pole dancing now with various disabilities. We have a blind lady doing amazingly well at our studio.

MemberNovember 2, 2011 at 6:24 am in reply to: instructors: do you have other jobs?I'm a full time Orthoptist (Specialist in childrens visual development and adult double vision) No one has ever heard of it! I teach 4-6 hours each week. It's mainly 4 hours but I do cover other instructors at times and I have a 1 hour polejam each week with my fellow instructors.
It does mean I see my husband less in the week but it's part of the routine now so isn't an issue unless I cover too many extra classes and don't see him at all. I keep my weekends free from pole too.

Wow well done for plucking up the courage and applying! Who is organising pole art and where are the competitions? I tried to google it but nothing related to pole dancing came back. I am trying to attend as many of the UK competitions (as a spectator) as I can I love to see what people have been working on.

For the dizziness you could try travel sickness tablets, they do work! Or you can get pressure point wristband things that do the same thing. There was a girl in my class who used both to start with but she has managed to wean herself off them now. She used to have to sit out by halfway through the class if she hadn't taken her tablets.

Hey Mora,
I’m another UK girl and I’m in Kent. Hope everything comes together for you so you can get poling. Be careful if you have bad shoulders though as you don’t want to damage them might be worth a trip to the GP to make sure your OK to start poling and get some advise on how to strengthen them.

The titanium X-pole at our studio has horrid grip & it feels bumpy now the gold has come off and no one likes to use it luckily we have just one which is soon to be replaced. It faded really quickly within a month or so we could see a differnce but it gets heavy use as it’s in a studio. The grip initially was better but it really didn’t last long.

Deb Riley gave me a kick in the right direction when I did a master class with her. She also hosts tonnes of other masterclasses like the Felix one that someone else mentioned so become her friend on facebook and Taylors Retreat is an amazing pole venue so make friends with them too and you will hear all about the masterclasses they host. Watch out for Pole Jams too they are very helpful and so much fun.
Goodluck getting out of your rut.

Hi Amber,
I’m from England too, Kent to be precise. Where are you based? I would caution against T-Gold the one in our studio has no gold left and everyone hates poling on it! I often found gold on my hands when I used it back in the days when the coating was still there. We are awaiting a replacement still. They may have solved the problem now but I’d check before you order!

R-pole also come in 50mm. I quite like the R-pole but I’m aware not everyone is a fan.

I like this idea it’s would be a chance to look at the pictures people are proud of. I love looking at other peoples pole pictures and often snoop through random profile pics.
