Oh wow you already look like a natural in your pic! Hehe.

I took my camera to class tonight and I think it gave me the extra kick I needed to finally sit on my pole! It’s been doing my head in for about 4 weeks now! I also mastered thigh hold for the first time! Woop!!

(goes off to sit with ice-pack inbetween her thighs……ouch!!)

LMAO! Ooops! I will try and take your advice – however – I am one of these people who only learn from THEIR OWN mistakes lol so you can guarantee that one day I will fall into the same trap of drink and pole!

When that day arrives I will come back on here and admit that YES you were right and I should have listened lol. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I won’t have a pole at home until my bday in 5 weeks (I’m soooooo excited!!) so I’ve got a good 5 weeks of practise until I have no more excuses to post a vid! Lol. I think I will be the same though – looking for constructive criticism to help us get better https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m taking my camera to pole lesson tonight!

Haha I already told him off when I saw him at the gym (he works there) – told him my hamstrings have been cursed with his genes lol. Luckily he didn’t take it personally!

I will persevere and hopefully it won’t be heredetory and this time next year I’ll be doing lovely splits! Lol.

I’m really glad that you said stretching twice a day is ok as I went ahead and did 20 mins of stretching at the gym. I do enjoy stretching once I’ve started it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Of ALL the dvds which would everyone recommend if I were to get one for stretching? It is always better when you have someone to lead you.

Lol and there I was thinking that I was the only sweaty one out there! I’ve had this problem since I started pole in June – always the one wiping the pole or using the chalk lol I think its just something that we are going to have to get used to! I have tried EVERYTHING! It has got a little bit better since my grip has got a bit stronger but sometimes I still fly off the pole – usually into a heap on the floor!

I know what you mean about the split grip feel better though – I always feel better when I use it rather than hands close together!

How long have you been poling? Let’s hope someone else can advise us on our slipperyness! Lol

I think he is old enough to understand that you use it for fitness reasons – he will no doubt already know about the "stripping" parts of pole dancing but maybe show him a few moves so he knows it’s not like that.

I am getting my X Pole for my Birthday (in 5 weeks!!! Can’t wait!!) and it will be up in the living room – all the time. I have a 6 year old little girl who can’t wait to learn some basic spins on it and no doubt my son when he’s old enough (he’s 23 months) will also want a go!

It’s more my mum who won’t approve! Lol I have my own house so it’s not like she’ll see it all the time but she just doesn’t really "get" my love of pole dancing and doesn’t really agree with it! I’m hoping that she might change her opinion when she sees what I ACTUALLY do on the pole instead of what she IMAGINES I do on it! Lol

Sorry, I probably wasn’t much help – good luck in telling him, I’m sure he’ll be fine https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I have the slippy pole problem too – I’m always wiping my pole down in lesson and using the chalk! Our istructor says that since weve been so slippy in the warmer weather once winter comes we should start to stick a bit more! So I’m hoping she’s right!

I also find that I burn the tops of my thighs doing this too when I bring my legs up!

Have you tried wiping your pole where you are slipping with some tissue? And with chalk? I think it might just be personal preference which way you do this – we are always taught it with hands together but can do split grip as a variation. Just depends how you are stronger maybe?

This happens to me too! Even when I have a top on it seems to ride up on it’s way round! Lol. My instructor says this is normal and will get better with practise.

I prefer the split grip variation of this spin – not really sure why, I think it’s just because I get closer to the pole this way. Hopefully we will stop getting the stomach pain soon! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

What I have noticed with my stretching is that my hamstrings are holding me back – what type of stretches could I do for this? My dad runs a lot and he has tight hamstrigns – surely it can’t be heredetory?

I didn’t get chance to stretch yesterday as only had a quick gym session but I will be stretching after pole class later – do you think I will be ok to stretch after the gym at lunch time aswell? Twice in 1 day?

Ah right that’s a pain isn’t it! We were one of about 10 houses down our street to avoid the floods! My mum got hit pretty bad with secondary flooding though – all came up the floorboards a few weeks after! Hope you get it all sorted soon! Bet you can’t wait to get all moved!

Oh good, I just hope that Lisa (and the other girls mainly!) don’t have a problem with me taking my camera! I only want a few pics as the whole idea of the article is "exercise can be fun" type of thing. Plus if me and/or Knickers finally get this bloody pole sit then I want evidence! Haha!

    Hi Loopielou,

We use Blitz boxing boots (our pole studio is run alongside a gym/boxing classes so they sell them from there but I found them cheaper on the internet):

    http://shop.dominantfitness.com/blitz-white–black-professional-boxing-boots-165-p.asp

They aren’t the most attractive accessory when doing something like pole dancing lol but they deffinately help with grip AND save your feet from too many bruises! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Oooh I can’t wait to practise in proper shoes! I have some "stripper shoes" lol I wore them for my Prom haha! I got them out a few weeks ago and had a walk about in them – deffinately going to be some injuries when I start dancing in them!

I got my Blitz boots online too as they were cheaper. They are exactly the same as the ones P4F sell but only cost us £22 with postage! Opposed to the £35 they charge at P4F!

When are you moving? We want to move but don’t really have the cash at the moment https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I’m dying to have a "pole room"! (Not that we would use the extra bedroom for one of the kids lol!)

Hope you have a good lesson! Weve got 2 this week, I’m really looking forwards to them! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Were they ok with that girl using her camera? I am hoping to take mine this week as (probably against my better judgement) I may be appearing in Slimming World magazine and they want LOADS of pics! Eeek!

    Hey,

The Pole Studio that I do my classes at does provide certification for the completion of each level but we are now nearing level 4 and haven’t had one yet! Apparently this is down to the reception girl lol. I will make sure I get them though!

It must be a pain having the start over each time you join a new studio! Hope you get it sorted hun and something comes from the emails https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
