Welcome to this fab site! I am also in the UK. How long have you been poling?

Lol well I hope that you listened to her after seeing your pics! You don’t look old or fat to me hun, they look fab!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif The only place I can take pics is at the park! And it’s a skinny pole so I can’t even do a crucifix (not even an upright one – let alone an upside down one!!).

Wow I never realised there were so many different places to pole in Hull and surrounding areas! Lol. My dad works at a gym (well it’s a sports medical centre but I use the gym as it’s free hehe) and I’ve hinted to him that when I have been doing pole dancing for quite a while I’d quite like to teach it – at his gym! Lol he thinks it’s a good idea!! I just wouldn’t want to take business away from P4F after they have taught me all I know – if you know what I mean?

The gymnastics sounds a good idea! I have seen them advertised at Woodford as we usually go there swimming (even though Haltemprice is a lot closer! It’s just better for the kids being able to walk in and out etc!) so I will have a look around at prices! £30 for 8 weeks doesn’t seem so bad though! I will see if she fancies it! I used to love gymnastics! I only wish I could still do the splits! Lol.

Do you do strength training at home? I do but struggle for ideas without a pole. I need to focus more on my abs as they are the weakest part after being stretched so much through 2 pregnancies lol. I do my handstand practise and can see so much difference in my arm and shoulder strength – what kind of things do you do?

My OH thought your "pole cemented into the garden" idea is genius! He wants to do it now (I have a feeling this would be INSTEAD of my indoor X Pole though! Which I don’t agree to! Lol). Do you have your lessons in the upstairs studio?

Yeah gymnastics could be a good idea! I think she would quite like that – are the lessons expensive at Haltemprice?

Haha if only my Grandad knew that his Birthday money from him this year will be contributing to my pole!!

I didn’t even know they did lessons at Purple Door? Lisa @ P4F had someone go to her for some lessons from Purple Door and she said she was really quite bad, throwing herself at the pole and stuff lol. How did you find out about lessons there? How much did they charge? I would quite like to try a spinny pole lol.

Yeah I got myself some shorts today from Sports Direct in St Stephens. I think they should be short enough for pole – but only Wednesday will tell! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Can’t wait to try them out!

Just been looking at your profile pics – did you just take your camera to P4F? Are we allowed to do that? I’ve never thought of asking but wish I had mine with me all the time lol.

Wow I can’t even begin to imagine the pain from an inverted thigh hold! Ouch!! I am already dreading the pain that this week will bring!! (Well I am also looking forwards to it – as no pain no gain!). I looked a right sight covered in bruises at the swimming pool today! I bet people think that my OH beats me up! Especially the pole burn on the insides of my arms – how could any normal person bruise there?! Lol

Aww your son is a good age to be able to play around on the pole to gain strength! I’m hoping to teach my little girl the basics as it will really help with core strength and she doesn’t really have a hobby yet. She loves to sing and dance but we can’t afford to put her in a stage school or anything like that just yet https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I think your son is probably about as impressed as my mum! Lol everytime I mention pole dancing she changes the subject, I’m sure she still thinks it is seedy and I’m going to end up working in Fantasy or Purple Door! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif Once I get my pole at home and she sees what it is REALLY about I’m hoping she might change her opinion!

We have just learnt the walking back running spin (I’m sure they must have more simple names lol) – a bit like a sunwheel? I really liked that one! We learnt the thigh hold for the first time this week too – omg the PAIN! I can’t sit on the pole yet as it hurts sooooooo much! I don’t think I’m ever going to do it!

We have a lady in our class who I think is in her 40’s and she is doing great! That’s what I think is so good about poling – it doesn’t matter what your age is you can still learn and still do it! It makes no difference if you are 18 or 50 – you all still learn the same way and usually at the same kind of pace https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Tired to get my mum to come……you can imagine her response!

Going to buy some new pole shorts tomorrow and I can’t wait!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

    Good idea!

I am following the Slimming World plan and for breakfast had: 1 Weetabix, a chopped up apple with a Mullerlight yoghurt on top with a few grapes.

I went to the gym at lunch so only had an Alpen bar for a snack.

For Tea/Dinner I’ve just had ham, poached eggs, slimming world chips and peas – yum!!

I wrote a really long reply earlier at work and then it made me log in again – and it disappeared!

Anyways…..what my post said was…..How cute that your little boy practises the splits and handstands with you! How old is he? I was teaching my little girl (she’s 6) how to do handstands against the wall yesterday – bless her she was trying so hard but didn’t have enough power in her kick to ger her leg onto the wall. She still practising though – never gives up https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Lol @ your hubby going upside down first time, my fiance tried to go upside down at the park last weekend when I was practising some handstands – he said it looked easy – so he had a go and bruised his ribs lol. Now he knows why I’m always black and blue! AND he can start appreciating that it isn’t easy this pole dancing lark! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I think my OH will want to go on my pole when we get it. He says he won’t but I showed him Jungle Cat’s vids from on here last night and he was impressed! He didn’t realise it could be such a masculine thing I don’t think!

I have tried both the 45mm and 50mm poles at the studio and 45mm is so much better for spins and hand grip isn’t it – it’s just harder for leg grip! I think I will go for a 50mm when I buy mine, I need more to grip on! The firemans pole at the park is the same as a 45mm so hard to practise climbing moves on.

Aww you never know – you might gain a bit more confidence and join us in the show next year?! I don’t for 1 minute think I will be really good by then – just a bit better than now I hope! Lol. What sort of things are you learning now at your level?

Wow that sounds cool! What pole have you got in your house? Mine will be in my living room too – nowhere else to put it but I don’t think that it will stop me using it – my little girl already wants to learn! lol.

I know what you mean about the practise sessions – I didn’t really know what to practise but got a bit of inspiration in the end lol. I just can’t wait to pole at home! I pole at the park at the moment – the only place I know with a firemans pole!! Lol

Oh wow you are pretty advanced then?! We are only just on level 3 so not in the show but hopefully will be next year! Are your one on one lessons with Emma? We have booked a private session with Lisa for a couple of weeks time. I like going to the practise sessions too just for a bit of extra pole time!

Do you have a pole at home? I am getting one for my Birthday in Nov and can’t wait!

    Thanks ladies!

I have just got back from the gym so only just seen your replies! I didn’t stretch at the gym just incase someone was going to tell me it was a bad idea! I will do tomorrow though https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Good tip about getting a warm bath before stretching! Sometimes I want to stretch but don’t really want to do the whole warm up thing if you know what I mean? So that is really good advice https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m glad that it is ok to stretch everyday, I feel like I need to up my stretching time now as I can see a slight improvement just from our classes!

Thanks again ladies – I love this site https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif)

Aww I wear my pole bruises with pride! Lol. I am still a newbie and I’ve noticed the bruises are a lot less now on regular moves – new moves do create new bruises though! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
