heres my 2 cents if I understand the question correctly… When you invert…think crotch to pole…also…do not "over grab" the pole with the outside hand..Grab low enough and make sure you see knuckles facing you.. and so that you are really secure let your inside leg lower down towards the floor….= that will help you body go up as your reach above the outside leg onto the pole..

Not 100% sure I undersstood the question?

I own a full service Pilates Studio for post-rehab and fitness clientele. I've developed my own Pegasus Barre Fusion Certification ( a blend of Pilates and Barre Techniques) program. I am also in the process of getting it approved by ACE and AFFA. I added Aerial Fitness to the mix and I am currently looking to expand and take that to a second location. (My Pilates studio is a little small to really be able to do the Aerial work justice, but we still have a great time!)

I actually pulled off skin off my trap and left a chunk on the pole and had a huge scab..

I've heard to get comfy in heels you should clean house with them on. Maybe a lace up bootie to give the ankle more support.

I do live in So Cal…so we dont get the messy weather like other places. I'm so bee-jeezis anal that I would probably have a mud room and make them take there shoes off before they went in.

It is sad that this is common, but it is not something you have to deal with. It is a lot of work to keep a fitness facility clean. But…people are sweating, losing skin, leaving lotion marks, ect ect….It is possible to keep it clean. I do it every day and I teach Pilates, Barre Fusion, and Pole at my place and it is clean. I wipe everything down after each and every client.. Including reformer footbars, change the loops for the next client, wipe the ballet barre and mats with a alcohol wipes or tea tree oil. Anything a client makes contact with gets cleaned. I make all my trainers do it too. I do not leave it up to the clients to this. I have a lot of elderly clients, and if they happened to come in and touch something that someone else touched and that person might of had a common cold….well that could be a very bad for a person with a compromised immune system.

If the place you are training at is not clean…what else are they being lazy about?

that's pretty gross. i vacuumm my studio every day…and use the swifer wet mop once a week. Non of my clients feet get dirty….and I bring my pug with me every day to work. Ps…He gets a bath 2 times a week too. He has the softest hair around and doesnt smell like freetoes corn chips.

There are also alcohol wipe sheets that are awesome to sanitize..they are about the size of wet nap…and you dont have to worry that it will interfer with your poling.

Try a little product called Dry Hands…you can put a little on the Pole too..but it sounds pretty normal to have to take breaks to let your body cool down a little. I watch what I just video taped to recover. Few minutes on few minutes off….stretch a little. When You a few different typres of moves you can do you can practice less taxing stuff while your body recovers..Like a pirouette? Then try an inverted type thing on the floor or on the pole (depending on your level) once or twice…then practice a different move…like a great walk across the room…get what I mean? You will build up endurance that way and you feel like there is too much down time.

Lyme…also work on your hamstring flexibility. The more you can laterally straddel the legs out to the sides the less (pure strenght) you have to use to lift. A little bit like chopper. Be prepared to lose some skin(at first) on your shoulder and dont practice too much.

  • thanks LizzyLiz…we were all wondering:)
