would you say you are flexing sideways, or do you try to rotate your upper body towards the pole or inside leg..also are you trying to take your head towards your knee..or are you pulling the inside leg across pole towards the floor?
Also, I have a very short waist, my navel is actually inlign with my lower ribs…any suggestions on how not to break my ribs next time on this move.

PS Stainless at one facility and Lilminx stainless and some coated at my other facility. I've noticed that I can get blisters from the coated if the pole gets too hot.

I use Pole Physics at night on legs and right before.
Dry hands on Hands and grap pole and rub my hands on pole to put the product on it so that the dry hands "drys" on the pole.
My other trainer loves tite grip. She has very sweaty hands. I just have very dry skin, especially on my legs.
Sometimes might-grip if extra sweaty. Itac seems to turn into a slippery mess on me after a few minutes.
I also sometimes clean the pole with vinegar and water. Learned that on this web-site.

Ice Ice Ice. And Some anti-inflamm's. if you take those. The only way it can heal is if the swelling goes down. ice a few times a day. If it hurts don't use it heavily, you don't want to tear a muscle. That takes a REALLY long time to recover from. After it is on the road to recovering you can start your rotator cuff exercises, make sure you also work the muscles in the upper and mid back to get upper quandrant to be more balanced and stabilized. I'm sure Veeena has some great tips on this site.
And after it is better Ice after you do use it.

Out in Cali…If people want to sue you they can, and having any type of corp; Ie.S-Corp, C-corp, or LLC doesn't always protect you I've been told by my legal professional. Getting the best insurance you can will help protect you the most.
If you go legalzoom.com they are a great resource to get some basic fees for incorporating your business. It would cost me 1500.00 to have my lawyer do the paper work for me to form a corp out here. If you do it yourself it is cheaper. I would double check the "registering" a corp, might not be the same as forming a corp. LLC's out in Cali are Limited Liability Corp. You usually have partners if you do that one. If it is only you, you might look into S-"type" Corp. I think a C-Corp would be to much of paper- work and time for a small business at first.
I'm sure you will figure it out what is right for you with all the great info you have gotten from the forum..and others of course.
Congrats! on your new business! Women in small business..Love it!

Hi, I own a Pilates and Pole facility in California. So You need to check what you in need your state.
Here are my questions…Are you renting space in a dance studio by the Hour or are you renting a Part of this facilty. Like a 1000 square foot room on a monthly basis?
If you are renting by the hour and are an independant contractor then you probably are considered a "personal trainer" BUT you should look into being considered a "gymnastics instructor" once you start teaching pole.
Most IC's out here pay a couple hundred dollars a year for their inusrance. You mentioned that you will only teaching belly dancing at first right? In genreal an IC needs liabilty..when you have"property" you might need more insurance.
I have a lot of equiment for Pilates and Pole, I have Property Insurance and Liabilty Insurance, I also put about 20,000 into improvements into the building I rent, so I have property insurance that includes this "buildout" of the business. If get broken into or a window gets broken insurnace would help fix that stuff.
DBA is a "doing business as"…Are you using your own name or a "business name" I ahve the DBA of Pegasus Pilates, but I am a sole propieter and I use my social sercurity number instead of an EIN. You can get an EIN….Its just a different way the IRS can Identify you for your taxes. EINs are easy to get….So it's a SS# or EIN. Not a big deal.
Do not incorporate until you know you are making enough money to cover the costs of the minimum fees that they have every year….And it's a lot more paper work, lawers fees, blah//blah..blah…blah..I've been told by my legal prefessionals….wait to become a corp until you know it's worth it. 9 years later almost worth it, but until the economy gets better i'm holding off.
I only know the SBA and the "Small Business Association" they are a resouce for small business's and have "SBA Loans".
The IRS Website has a slot of information for small business to make sure they are filing correctly. Check it out…You want the IRS on your good side always.
I have a brick and mortar facility so I have a business licsnence in the city I have my business. Check to see what your city requires.
I would recommend a seperate business bank account so that your are not mixing biz and personal money. In CA and you have DBA you have to list your DBA in the paper a few weeks and bring in proof before you can open your account. If you use your own name foryour business your don't need a DBA, I still recommend a seperate account.
I hope this helps a little.
A resale Cert. is a liscence if you intend on selling things to clients. It enables you the ability to "buy wholesale" from companies. You have to keep VERY GOOD track of your enventory and pay your sales tax that you have collected from the sales of your wholesale items.
They usually have lots of good info on there website revelavant to where YOU live.

I'm in my 40's and have been around the block a few times….so.that being said. I find it a lot easier to be true to my own natural clock. Eat when you are hungry, sleep when you are tired, and pole when you feel like it. And be Okay with that. This is your life, don't live it with someone else's standards. Trust yourself and know thyself. if you are bored, than do something that interests you. I find that being creative, painting, drawing, singing, or making something can help bring me out of my funk. Teach yourself how to do something…for example.. Make a model airplane or learn to crochet. Keep your mind young and inspired with doing things you don't normally do. There once was a time in my life that I think I slept for almost 6 months in a sense…and then one day the light went on and I decided to open my own business..that was my path. I knew it with all my heart and soul, and I wouldn't have gotten there without the "low time" to quiet my mind and help me discover my "core" being… Look at this 'funk" as a time of growth and be open to what it is telling you..so ask yourself and be open to the anwer, no matter how bizare that anwer is. Then take the steps to get there, and be open to any tools that might be nescessary to get there. Whether it be Saint John's Wart or what ever it is.
Oh PS.. I use Insure(the drink, chocolate is good0 for snacks or a piece of cheese. It only takes a second and there you have a "meal"

Every women has a unique beauty and grace. I think that is part of pole…It's being your own unique and beautiful creature. Look within yourself to find out who you are with the pole. You like these girls because they "have something"…they express their heart. It's not just a technique..it's a feeling too.

MemberMay 18, 2011 at 9:52 am in reply to: differences between the color lil mynx and the plain stainless steelI have 4 painted lil mynx and a SS little mynx. They are too short, you can only use 8 feet of the pole no matter how high your ceilings are. I love the ease of putting them up and taking them down. The SS is a little more slippery, I clean it with ecetone once in awhile, and vinegar once in awhile…but mosly just use a micro fiber towel on it. I also put a little dry hands on and then grab the pole and rub it on it too. It grips great, just needs to be worn in a little. The studio I "certed" at had PS poles. My beginners love the lil minx painted poles, they are easier to learn on, because of they are a little grippier. I personally would not buy them again, just because I had a problem with one and the husband and wife owners were on polar opposites on how they handled the situation. They are not really interested in standing behind their product. I thought about retailing them, but I will not now because of that situation. I do think they put out a safe product, but there is always a lemon in the bunch…I don't use "my lemon" now from lil mynx. I just call it a loss, and will buy a different brand when I expand.
