I have a friend who is interested in getting a pole. Any chance you could name your price? 🙂

If your hand is holding the pole a little closer to your calf, your hips and back will drop a little for that back foot grab. It’s nerve-wracking, though, the first time. I feel like I’m going to fall and always drop out kind of fast. But yeah that’s how I got to my foot, because I know I’m not ultra flexible in my hips. :/

The best way to prevent copyright issues is to put a disclaimer in the info/summary thing under your video. That’s why all my videos say “I don’t own the rights to the music. It’s X Song by Y Artist.” That way your video also falls into the Creative Commons.
The way copyright things work on YouTube: You add the disclaimer. The record company will still claim copyright. That’s fine – acknowledge it. It might become unavailable to mobile users, but PC users can still view it. You might get an option to delete the track or replace it. As long as you’ve acknowledged the copyright you DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS.
All this being said, there are always exceptions and special circumstances, but this is the overall recommended method of handling copyright issues.

I got 2 of my most recent outfits from discountdance.com. They have all sorts of useful clothing for polers. No I’m not affiliated with them lol. I have a seamstress friend who hand makes some of my stuff upon request. Mostly she’s done cosplay stuff for me, but the outfit she’s working on now is made from some super sparkly, shiny material she found for me on the internet. If anyone is interested, I can give you her info in a PM. 🙂

Technically, you can write off anything you buy for instructing and instructor related duties that you can’t or don’t use elsewhere in life. That being said, you should keep the receipts in a folder somewhere with ‘work’ written on the back as well as on the folder in case you get audited. (It can happen to anyone.)

If you have the chance on a long weekend, Orlando has like… Allure Dance, Lotus, and even Stigma offers classes during the day. I’ve met the women who teach at Stigma. Even though it’s a bar/pole/tattoo place, I know they’re decent people and decent teachers (in my experiences with them anyway).

As far as the lift mentioned at the beginning of this video… I have no tips on how to be successful there, but I’m at least going to try it. XD

I have a Nikon CoolPix that no one ever sees the videos from. It takes decent videos, but I need a tripod LOL. Anyway, my point was just that you should just play with some at different stores until you find one you feel will work best for YOU.

Thanks for the feedback. I didn’t want to do a bunch of arms stuff today with my arm hating me lol. I’ll try out some of the suggestions definitely. @jsheridan I’ll post a video and a link in this thread tomorrow. Also, no luck finding a tutorial. I’d really like to know the name of it so I can look it up by name!! lol.

I figured as much. I was just saying that sweat pants would be insane lol. It’s really difficult to get any variety of grip. I didn’t mean to imply that your studio enforced something like that.

From a socially awkward student perspective… I look to the website or Facebook page of a studio to get an idea of what others are wearing and if there is a dress code. If I felt a dress code were impractical, I would probably refrain from going. On the other hand, I’ve never encountered a studio that required anything like full length pants or anything crazy like that. I do feel that flat outlawing booty shorts is silly. Maybe if it’s an issue, ask that they cover the butt/thigh fold at the very least (I think I saw someone say gluteal fold). But if a studio were ultra strict, I’d think twice about going. I’m not going to redo my pole clothes for one pole studio when there are five others in the area.

Hm… My pole isn’t nearly that long, but I’m definitely going to try!!

Orlando and Tampa both have good studios.

A good place to start is finding clubs near you that actually still use gogo girls. You can usually find out from their websites or ask the partiers in your friends group to find out.
