am seriously fed up with this posting stuff https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif my friend just left and basically i am going to have to buy a new Digital camera as it will cost me $25 to transfer my videos to dvd, ( the cam i have now takes mini tapes) than go to my moms (where there is a comp. with a cd drive that actually works) upload than email vid to myself and fnally uplad to you tube https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif i am realllly upset https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif i just bought this camera and now i have to try and sell it and get a digital/you tube ready camera searched online and found 1 for under $300, but also need to get laptop as cd drive cannot be fixed https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif ( no way to watch dvds, make cds, ect) he wasn’t able to hook up scanner since i couldn’t find the wires.. just very disapponted to put it 1 way

am buying the camera over the weekend (after get paid on fri.) so will have to wait to buy another camera and shoot another video before can post should atleast be able to have pics up tommrow https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_neutral.gif just really sucks as have been trying to do this for so long and seems like it should be a simple thing not to mention i had recored my first day with new pole so could post… owell am upset, but with a little more time ( and alot more $$) i will get this done the bright side is once i finally have the right equipment and a basic understanding of how it works it will be each time after that well tahnks for trying to help anyway https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

how about some lessons on spinny mode? so many of us seem to have that option i though it might be nice to have some lessons on combos on spinny i think i said it before but i like pencil spin, open legs and wrap around pole to go into thigh hold invert, come up into wrist seat, and do a (almost) drop split or come down with legs sort of in a pretty pose https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

well at this point i am extemely frustrated with this posting of vids/pics thing https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif i have finally found a way to get pics on comp. though and think will be able to email them to myself ( i have to have snap shots scanned onto a cd, but since my cd drive isn’t working i have to scan into my mothers comp. and email it to myself matter of catching her at a good time ) but am not sure how to get it on site from there https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif im going to see if my friend can help over the phone not as if i have to even say it, but i am very new to comps. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_idea.gif i have had 1 for years but always just used for music i will try to get better at this so i can more fully participate in this and challenges https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif as far as vid i did record a little i have no editing software and alot of the vid is of me not even in view as am fiddling with radio or trying on diffrent shoes (my strap broke on my fave pair) not to mention i hadn’t realized the shorts i was wearing were so short until i watched vid i put on another pair under those and shot a little more so basically dont have alot of usable footage, but will attempt to post a clip just not sure where to start! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif i also got & put up my new chrome 50mm last night (gold is coming downstairs) havent tried even a spin yet am going to tape my first day on new pole tommorow will be (attempting) posting clips already have and clip from new pole practice tommrow after 7p est. now the way my room is b/c its an attic, the walls slant making it just about impossible to get an angle where it’s far enough and high enough to get head to toe shot in so alot tried my best to get it all in, but don’t be surprised if my foot or whatever goes out of the shot https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif well wish me luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

well i tried again tonight (straight edge split) am still a long way away, but am getting more comfortable unwrapping legs from pole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif will just keep workling on it i won’t even attempt regular straight edge yet https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif tried superman got closer than in past, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/bom.gif but still can’t flip myself into it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif handspring i think am going to need an instructor to help me learn https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif chopper am so frustrated at this point am not even trying for a little while (dont understand how 1 day can hold the position like no big deal, than for weeks after can’t hold it for more than a second ) https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif

couldn’t do the half handspring into butterfly ( i usually can) have gotten alot more comfortable with gemini (never used to really feel secure) and pike (sitting straight legged inverted on pole w/ no hands) also really feel good about bow & arrow tried reverse aysha was able to reach pole this time and let go with legs, https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif but still needs alot of work https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_salut.gif

January 16, 2009 at 1:40 pm in reply to: what pole to buy

please take it from me i bought a peek-a-boo pole (before i ever heard of x-pole) and was reassured i could spin/invert on it i set it up so excited i could have burst i finally got the courage to go for a real spin and the whole pole came crashing down with me on it ouch! even if you just want to be able to do a backbend or just lean on it topose IT IS NOT SAFE those poles are prop poles which is why they are able to make/sell them for such a cheap price they should be illegal as they are VERY DANGEROUS ( what if i had tried to invert instead of spin??) and they misrepresent themselves the extra couple hundred you’ll spend on a qua;ity pole (x-pole being the only 1 i can 100% recommend) is sooooo much cheaper than the hospital bill you’ll be looking at if you injury yourself (and on a pole like that it’s just a matter of time)

i know it s expensive but you dont want to get in my situation where i spent 150$ on a peekaboo and than had to spend another $300+ on an x-pole i am actaully waiting for my second x–pole to come in (should be here 2day) i have had mine for just under a year and love it so much got another 1 (1 upstairs for spins as plenty of room but no celieng height and 2nd 1 downstairs with not enough room for most spins but great for climbing/ inverts) in some cases yuo get the cheap cersion and it works just as good but not with a pole if you buy cheap, your going to get cheaply made and dangerous please if you want a pole save your money til you can get an x or atleast a better qulaity 1 than that x is free shipping for rest of this month through this site only (saves you like 40$) you could also look into buying a used 1 cheaper they really do maintain there value as long as they are taken care of (very easy care, very eay to install/take down, totally stable.. my friends bf weighs over 200lbs and he inverts on it) better to be safe than sorry!!

LOL i pictured something like scarlett o’hara THROWING herself into the pole in a fit of drama.

its something like that but picture it a lot less gracful than anything that she would manage https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

how do you guys feel about the bruises you’ve gotten from practicing? when i first started i was like, "OH YEAH!!! MY TROPHY BRUISES! I EARNED THESE SUCKERS!" but now sometimes I get embarassed by them- like, "damn! that shouldn’t be happening anymore!"

i don’t mind at all when i first started i was sooo bruised ankle to hip it actually hurt to walk after now even when i have a "Scarlet O’Hara Session" (when i just get like whatever lets just do this and throw myself at the mercy of the pole and see what happens) i dont get nearly as bruised as i did any bruises, cuts ( i cut myself alot with my own nails when doing half-handspring into basic butterfly) orwhatever i am proud to show them i earned them it means i got off my a$$ and tried something i took chances and i’m proud of my little war wounds its part of the process and i think even the really good dancers still get some bruising here and there they just cover it better https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_king.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_queen.gif

January 15, 2009 at 5:10 pm in reply to: Building abs from nothing

i noticed a huge diffrence once i started doing pilates as the main focus in pilates is your core (abs/back) i was unable to do even 1/2 the vid when 1st tired and was so sore in abs after hurt to sneeze, but i kept at it i would put it on in the am after work (i work nights) do as much as i can even if you have to pause or skip some moves while you catch breath (which is another really important thing remember to breath! i was surprised at how much i had been holding my breath when doing moves) than again when i woke up (even if its only 5mins at a time this week, 8 next week or whatever ) than again after dinner

now that video is something i do to warm up i dont have a 6 pack believe me, (bc you need cardio to burn fat thats over muscles you could do sit ups all day, but if you have a layer of fat over that you’ll never see the results your looking for) but i have a pretty strong core i also think sit ups are no good for you and crunches on floor are not very effective they only work a small portion of ab/back muscles and most people do not do them correctly making them less effective and even causing injury for some crunches on a ball are more effective but pilates really forces you to use all your muscles as you move through diffrent moves crunches do nothing for that lower belly pooch or love handles for that matter pilates has you you using side/upper/lower muscles as well as the deeper transv. muscles that really help with back problems alot of people with back pain have weak ab/back muscles
i also like doing free weights or calistetics ( lunges, squats, push-ups ect ) on a buso board anythime you do moves oin an unstable surface, youforce your abs to work to stabalize you have you thought of beely dancing? i wouldnt recommend that alone, but for days when you still want to do something to work on condition, but dont feel like exersising you may find it helpful and fun at same time as well as improving your pole dancing sorry for long post diet/nutriton/exersise ect is a topic i could go on and on about ( dont get me wrong im far from a health nut.. huge plate of fried chicken with an even bigger glass of beer for dinner.. whoops! but i know a little on the subjects and enjoy trying to encourage/help other people ) hope this was helpful https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

ok question have stayed off pole all week so can be fresh for fri night (finally a whole day and night off yay!!!) am planing on making a vid to post even though i have no way to edit at the moment so it might not be my finest piece, but just to get things started i would like to just go for it do we have an order in which we are doing challenges, or can we just look over the lists and chhose? i mean i know obviously we are free to do what we want, but if there is going to be some sort of order i would like to follow it so am not doing dance to 80’s music or somthing while everyone else is doing opera or whatever am making vid fri night so if dont know before than am probably going to choose whatever grabs me at that moment https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_idea.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif
