I’ve only done a workshop with Amber. But, if you get the chance, DO IT DO IT DO IT!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif She is an amazing teacher, fantastic spotter (I swear she has the touch! It’s like she puts her hands on you and you have insta-balance no matter what!) not to mention she is knock-you-out-GORGEOUS and such a nice person that she is just a joy to be around. The true professional….she listens to you when you talk and overall is just really kind-hearted. I was super frustrated at her workshop because I recently had Lyme’s disease and my overall strength and stamina aren’t quite back up to par, so not only had I lost some ability, but also the psychological factor of having lost confidence in myself, but she encouraged and pushed me, she saw through my uneasiness and could tell better than I could what I could and couldn’t do.

I should apologize to her for bursting hear ear drums with the scream I let out when she helped me get my first elbow grip aysha https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Well yes, that’s the plan. The problem is that the ceilings are high enough that it’s looking like something floor-to-ceiling will wind up costing a bundle. The main manufacturers I’ve looked at all have the same problem. Platinum stages has a pole that goes to 11’11" for $150 but then jumps to over $300 from 12′ up.

That is bunk. Wow. What a bunch of buttclowns. That makes me want to burn facebook down. I know that’s not possible for so many reasons, but wow. One more reason to get off that site, in my opinion. They send you the same nasty email if you post a picture of yourself breastfeeding your child. God, why do these people think the female body is inherently pornographic or lewd whenever it is displayed??? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumbdown.gif

Whatever my $.02 is worth, my only instruction thus far has been here. Not just the lessons. I’ve had one-on-fives in Friday night chat and gotten great observations and support via webcam. Personal instruction is great, but with studioveena and some serious self-discipline, I’ve grown into a fairly confident and safety-minded poler. In fact, I just got a job teaching at the first ever pole studio in my city! I credit studioveena with that 100%. I know my limitations and what i have no business teaching yet. But I also know what I do know- I know what I’m good at, and how to explain moves that I understand. You will get out of your pole-education whatever you put Into it. Everyone learns at different paces BUT everyone can learn safety and learn ABOUT the sport/art if you use your resources (I.e. Studioveena!) and commit to learning more than just how to do a trick or two.

So basically, I love you all. And without you all in my life, I don’t know where I’d be. I don’t even want to think about it. Studioveena got me out of a bad relationships and gave me my wings in pole and life. *sniff* you guys are the best https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif yes, you can learn independently, and you can learn a lot more than tricks.

Veena or fleur might have more elaborate instructions than I do, but my basic advice is to figure out from your symptoms whether you have a strain or a tear. If you have torn something badly, waiting a week before you get medical attention could really complicate thigns. If you can’t afford a dr. Visit, go to someplace like a cvs minute clinic that can get you some pain meds and a referral if that is needed. The pain management is very important if it’s keeping you awake at night. If you are not getting good sleep, your body is not healing. You need that time to regenerate.

With my budget I’ll probably have to drop out of the bidding. I know this is a $100 item and I don’t have that kind of money.

Thank you all so much. I really needed the insight. I think $20 is what I’m going to ask for with bonus for any student over ten, since she mentioned that herself at lunch. And amcut, yes I have been in bed all week! Well, doing laundry and sitting in bed. But I tried to pole once….only once….HOOOOOBOY was that a bad idea! I felt like pooballs the rest of the night! Bleh! I’m definitely on my butt for a little while here. Just really hoping it doesn’t interfere with work :-/

And yes, charley definitely knows, well almost anything! Thanks all!

EDIT: I do still wish I knew how to speed my recovery through diet and/or supplemets….maybe I should try to research whether Lyme disease causes any kind of nutrient deficiencies.

I don’t want to bump my own thread but I really need advice on this money issue from any teachers out there.

That’s a deceptivey simple clause. The part to worry about is the "transferable." that’s a very broad term. If they are trying to grant themselves a transferable right to reproduce, that to me constitutes a kind of ownership.

The other thing I worry about is explained best here: http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2010/04/facebook-timeline/ Kind of a read but worth it. Long story short, there’s a lot on your profile that you can only prevent being made fully public by witholding it, and that’s what has really changed most about their settings.

K2weller: you’re supposed to be flipping to the opposite side that your shoulder is on, I think. Maybe that’s why you’re getting friction. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, I still haven’t tried this yet. I just came back and checked on this thread and saw no one had replied to you with a definitive answer.

Go to your privacy settings and be 100% positive you don’t have "friend of friend" checked for any reason. Moreover you cannot put anything like that as your profile pic because you can’t control who sees that. I don’t disagree with you, I just want to point out that facebook now considers a lot of your info, pics included, to be public information and you can no longer control who sees it. So if some under 18 out there sees it and gets offended, there’s not much you can do. You can’t even post pics of yourself breast feeding your baby on fb. Personally, I deleted my facbook because of how scary their privacy settings are now. They give you the illusion of control, but really you have virtually none. In fact if you log into your facebook account and then go other places on line, facebook records where you go for advertising purposes. As in, let’s say you log your fb and then go listen to something on pandora. Facebook will know what songs you listened to. Or if you went to a news website, they would know what stories you read. And they allow third parties, like advertisers or those hiring job applicants, to search everything on your profile totally unfiltered. So it really does NOT matter what your settings are. Everything you post is ultimately fully public. And PLEASE do not post any professional pole pics to facebook. All pictures you upload become the sole property of facebook. I shoud post some info on facebook since I know a lot of people here use it. They are very deceptive about the service they offer.

The brand is OP. I’m actually wearing them right now, in a color I think best described as fierce grape. Haha. So comfy and so perfect. And I tried rolling them down today. Holy booty, batman! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_batman.gif so they are definitely versatile.
