At first I was impressed by basic things that focused on having pretty body lines, like ckr/car and gemini/scorpio. I still work on all 4 at every practice session making them better and prettier. Getting them down at first made me feel, well, pretty.

In terms of something more athletic that just https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif me at first, it was shoulder mounts. I’m surprised you didn’t hear my scream when I got my shoulder mount. I actually almost cried. I truly did feel she-hulk that day. Now I can superinvert and have learned different grips, and I realize at least in some senses I have surpassed what I thought I would be capable of with pole.

Now I’m mystified by perfectly flat jades and tick tocks and anything else that involves a split because my legs are stubborn pieces of crud. But I hate stretching, I’m too much of a workaholic to sit on the floor for half an hour. I also just don’t get how you guys can lift up into TG, and monkey around in split grips in general. Jenyne is good for that. Darn her. I just…..yeah, you TG tricksters are freaks https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

I have met some dancers that just hold them self up with the shear force of pulling on that foot and not engaging the hamstrings at all.

    Um. Ow. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif

You’d think the pain would inform them to do otherwise. Some people I just don’t get.

Settled https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif although I do find it interesting that you seem to be hanging in a way that defies the laws of physics. You say it feels secure….but I just keep picturing myself forcefully making out with my floor. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

From kneeling near the pole, grabbing head height and spin up. Kind of a mutant cradle / crouched corkscrew deal.
Pushing up to Straddling back to pole, grabbing between legs and hair flip up.
    Shoulder mount from the floor.
Rolling over each toe andReverse bow-leg, butt-out, slow up.
From laying down, sliding up into elbow stand and flip up.
From sitting, rolling back into shoulder stand/reverse elbow stand and ckr/car up.

This makes me want to do a "get off the flo’" vid haha.  It’s just so hard to describe

I’ve seen PhillyJess do this move, or something very similar, a few times. You should look up her vids for good ins and outs to it…it works really pretty as an aerial move and you could swing down into a split grip jacknife by just flexing the legs forward.

That said, I can’t do it, but I wish I could, it looks like a really awesome way to aerial transition.

Can I open up this convo since I am a late bloomer to SV….but I need help naming my pole.

She or he is very slippery and frustrates the sh*t outta me most of the time. she/he is short, too short for me to climb, and very cold LOL. I once loved her/him. I am starting to fall out of love and might end up replacing her/him at some point. but either way, IT needs a name….any ideas????

Something pseudo pornographic like Nurse Betty…lots of pain, lots of pleasure https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_twisted.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

Mine doesn’t have a name. Except when it’s really slippery, then it’s "f***n’ piece of sh***!!!"

Woohoo! Aint respect grip grand?? I can’t tell you how bad my shoulder bruises were with cup grip. Respect is so nice and easy on the shoulder, I can practice superinverts all day long. That’s beautiful for a first shot!

SM is really one of those moves where you don’t have it until you do, and then you DO! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I have the foam mats and while they provide a little cush I have hurt myself on them. I just got over a jammed toe.

Yeah I only suggested them because she said she wanted something firm that she could walk on. For extra trick practice I’d recommend throwing a crib mattress over it, but when stacked 2 deep they’re pretty cushy, at least enough that if you practiced a new trick close to the floor you wouldn’t have any more than a minor injury like a stubbed toe or bruise. I consider that a lot better than a cracked skull!

I don’t know if I am posting this in the right place, but I knew people would be understanding here. I think I am going to have to sell my pole. I want to go back to school and I need to take care of some outstanding debt so that I can possibly get student loans and stuff. I don’t have much of value and my pole is one thing I have that should give me a few hundred dollars. I am soooooooo sad by this. I haven’t been able to get super good or anything, but I love it so far. I really don’t want to sell it. Of course I already have takers too! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I know quite a few members here have traded up to the new x-pert from their old x-poles. I would post something inquiring and I bet one the ladies here would be happy to let you pay for a used pole in 2-3 installments when the time comes. Just a suggestion.

I know how hard this must be, but think of it as making a short-term financial goal for yourself that is rather easily met with a teeny bit of diligent saving.

The cheapest one I have seen was $150 but it was only a 2" mat. The $199 one that is 4" is a good deal. Or you can try searching craigslist for gym mats. I have the foam floor mats as my first layer and then these huge pillows that I got at Big Lots that I use when trying new stuff.

Thanks for the info. I’ll give craigslist a shot. A gym mat sounds like a good idea because I’d prefer something flat I can walk on as opposed to walking on pillows.

I found mine at a hardware store. They’re meant for cushioning feet on a work space to be stood on all day. They look like giant puzzle pieces with the way they fit together on the sides, but it means they can be attached all the way around the pole. They were $10 for a pack of 4 at Harbor Freight and I’m pretty sure you could buy them anywhere. Get 2 packs and you can layer them, stack one on top of the other, with multiple packs you could create a whole padded surface which would be great for floorwork.

Oh my god. Yes. Yes!! Loving her lately. The things she pulls off in pants!! I mean really. Shes one of my favorites for danceyness.
Karol is one of my all time favorites, along with Jenyne and Felix. They execute mind bending tricks i could only dream of  and I’m sooo in love with Karol’s style of floorwork. I stink at it, and damn that lady could have my wallet! That said, I try to take a lot of inspiration from fleur, because not only is she  tall like me, which can really be a disadvantage, but she moves in a way that says "I’m proud of each and every beautiful muscle on this body." I hope my tricks are as smooth and lean. For example, Homegirl has a jade for the history books. I love Veena’s dancing because she’s tall too, yet looks so featherlight on the pole I can’t believe it.

I have a pair, and though they don’t fit (I’m a size ten, these are a half size too small) I have no problems with the clear plastic top. I think it all depends on how they’re put together, the quality of the make, ect. Mine are slingback, so the plastic actually wraps around the outside of my foot, as well as the toe and the back. Comfortable enough! Now, if I could just get the base to be a little wider, I’d be more than happy! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

I will post a vid to demonstrate. It’s called fuzzy pink socks. Getcha shoes, getcha fuzzy socks, go to town. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

    OK Runey here we go!

Here’s a few general workout tops that have good underarm skin and enough side skin but still cover more of the torso-one in straight neck one with V neck (which oh PS would look smashing on you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif ) The one’s I’m talking about are on Page 3. "Camisole Bra Top"

For something sexy, how about a take on the cute metallic stripper bikini with a little more coverage? It’s also on Page 3- "Natalie Adult Metallic Top." Plus you can get either shorts or capris to match (I know I’ve seen you post vids working out in capri sweats before)
Same idea, different execution, check Page 9 "Natalie Metallic Babydoll Top" I’m thinking with plain black shorts or capris. It looks like it would flip up pretty easily to allow for side of stomach grip if needed. (And if not would look so fierce as nightwear!)

A babydoll style top like that in general could give you some coverage while still giving easy access to those stick sides and they look great on curvy body styles. You could even put a sports bra underneath a babydoll to cover cleavage and it would be a super cute layered look.

All of these at the following URL – click "all tops" on the right and you’ll be in the listings I was going off of.
