There’s an idea! If you have the cardboard tubes, why not put it in a golf bag? I bet it would fit.

Also make sure you are using long, clean strokes with the razor, and not little *swipeswipeswipe* motions. Apply cream, make clean strokes, and if you’re going to go over an area again re-cream/soap it. That little "oops I missed a spot" swipe over skin you’ve already shaved the cream off of can make the blade catch on your skin and cause bumps.

I’m currently working on this too! Man it’s hard! Might be a good idea to get a spotter if you do it from caterpillar so you can have your weight stabilized while you practice leaning out against that elbow so you’re really pulling on it. PoleGrrrl is 100% right, when you’re not leaning against it enough you just sliiiiiiide, but you also have to be careful because sometimes I lean my booty out too far and it feels like I’m going to topple over the other way lol (yay big beefy boyfriend man-spotter!

And hummus can be made with a variety of flavorings to it, from creamy and fatty to lemony or even with a kick when you get to feeling better. Good way to get fiber, dipping broccoli and cauliflower in it. I like carrots and good whole weat bread personally. Tomatos are good in it too!

Other than some fun bruises associated with living in a tiny 1br (foot+couch= f** n ouch) I have gotten a couple minor falls, once I bonked my noggin on hardwood when it was really humid and I hit a sweaty spot doing a scorpio switch. But I knew it was slick so I was only practicing a foot off the ground. The key is, if you do fall, don’t be an idiot and soldier through it. Your adrenaline is up and you might not feel any injury you’ve got. If you get a fall, even onto a crash mat or padding, my personal philosophy is always stop and take a second to check yourself out. Even for as stupid of a reason as you got a little paper cut on your hand somewhere falling that you don’t feel and don’t see at first, and you get a bad wipeout from blood on your hands and mess your pole up.
Sorry for the rant, but since I’ve only ever poled at home I really try to keep things as safe as I can. I live alone, I have to rely on myself and my own common sense to keep me safe. And I think that’s a good attitude everyone should take, rely on yourself above anyone else (spotter) or anything else (mat), even when you’re using both. It’s your own head that keeps you safe first and foremost (and I don’t mean breaking your fall with it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif )….learn safe exits, have a way to catch yourself prepared and active in your mind (i.e. be totally ready and confident catching a fallen jade with a scorpio). You can miss your mat and your spotter can fail without getting hurt with preparation and good common sense.

I don’t think there’s enough distinction here. There’s a huge difference between just watching youtube videos and trying to "figure it out" and taking lessons from Veena or working with good instructional dvds that focus on building a safe groundwork.
I also think we have to be fair in considering that pole is not an everywhere thing yet. In fact I consider it to be a very metropolitan sport in terms of what demographic has really bitten into the popularity/fitness aspect of it. Seems like all these studios are in major cities. There’s nothing near me in central IL as far as I am aware. If there were, I’d probably go. There’s clearly no substitute for the in person interaction of classes with a qualified instructor with a great attitude. But I think as a poling community we have a responsibility to all newcomers to not get an attitude that everyone should/must go to a studio from day 1 and instead focus on providing really, really good electronic resources up to and including video chat based one-on-one lessons with instructors that take into consideration the many price ranges and locations of people who pole. We come from every demographic and walk of life, and everyone should be able to find access to basic training materials that will keep them safe and teach them in a way that is fun and rewarding. Anyone who wants to pole deserves to be safe, no matter what their level of access to a studio and formal instruction is.
(By the way, I’ve only ever used Veena’s lessons at home and I haven’t yet suffered any injuries from improper placement or anything of the sort. Follow good advice, get good results. I also know my limits and what I most surely cannot do. I make no promises for lack of common sense.)

Damn that model. She doesn’t have small boobs at all. If I had tits like that I’d walk around topless everywhere I went.

Make sure if you are using any wipes designed for your skin that they too don’t contain a moisturizer. Read the ingredients, it’s very common because those anti-bac wipes tend to have alcohol as a main ingredient which is very drying, so there’s often some kind of oil or moisturizer to counteract that.
Really, rubbing alcohol is like $.50 for a bottle at the mega-stores, might as well just grab a bottle. You can even dilute it into a big’ol spray bottle so you have a litre of it.ALSO if you go the 50-70% alcohol route, you can use it on a cotton ball to GENTLY wipe the grime off your laptop/monitor screen. Works miracles for that crusty goo that seems to accumulate on soft screens. Just don’t use pure rubbing alcohol…too strong unless diluted.

I wouldn’t put anything between the upper dome and the ceiling due to risk of the pole falling, but I do know for a fact x-pole should not damage stucco ceilings. At minimum a couple teeny bits could flake off, but literally not even enough to notice.
My dad thought it would damage the ceiling, so when I brought my pole home, I just put it up and used it and took it down. Then when he asked, I said, "well I already put it up. and took it down. right there *points*"
And he just went "well, I sure as hell can’t tell where it was." and that was that. And that’s my dad. Your main ain’t your daddy. So just put it up and to hell with him, cause it won’t hurt your ceiling one bit. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif
